I'd avoid fighting under all circumstances. These days you don't get a fair fight. 9/10 people looking for trouble have a weapon and sometimes it's a gun around here. In my neck of the woods if you get jumped you run first. Even if you put up a fight you're more likely to get done over - this time by the justice system once the scrote who attacked you files for assault.

Don't get the wrong impression here I'm 6'4 and have spent many years training in martial arts. I've trained with people who teach the CIA. I'm more than capeable of looking after myself and I have absolutely no quarms about seriously injuring someone who attacks me. 90% of the self defence I know and would use ends up with the attacker having a broken bone or two, or they're choked to unconciouesness.

But, despite this I'd still run. I've only ever got into one fight since 16 (I'm 25 now) where I've not been able to get out of it by running. I got jumped by 5 lads who were after the usual phone, wallet etc. After the first one took a swing I didn't have much choice sadly and had to defend myself. I walked away, 4 of them ran away and 1 of them.. well he didn't do a fat lot after he was unconcious bar jibber a bit.

only got confrontational at school - as you do - cause some kid didn't enjoy the way that I was successful at what I did, be it work or sports. I always bettered him and I think that got to him, not that I rubbed it in his face, I don't believe in that sort of thing, I'm usually really quiet and keep myself to myself. he was the kind of lad who thought he was really cool, and tough and so full of it that if he saw himself beaten in front of his mates he gets really pissed off...which seemed to happen a lot when ever I was around - I think he did it deliberately to try and get into a fight and settle it once and for all that way...
anyway one time we were waint outside class (this was back in '98 i think) and I was joking around with a few of my friends about something, probably t.v from the previous night, anyway he wanders up to me - you know, right up close as though his nose is touching mine - if thats not confrontational I dunno what is.
funnily though he only comes up to my neck so he was staring straight at my chest. I sort of chuckled and did that sort of huffing sound when you know something is simply ridiculous...he pushed me back so I returned the favour and then he took a swipe at me. it hit my chin with a smacking sound but I didn't even move. just stood there expecting something more...which I think got him even more wound upso i pushed hi down the stairs a couple of steps - he didn't tumble or anything but i managed to work him up into a frenzy...I was sure that he was about to try and have it out with me big style there and then...but luckily for him the teacher opened the door and in we went.

now, I'm about 6' this guy is 5'7 maybe...I'm fit athletic etc cause I row so I'm reasonably built, he smokes, drinks etc he's got a unreasonably aggressive attitude towards peopel who succeed (cause he fails a lot) and he's also loosing hair on top (at 18 thats got to get to you a bit!) so everything about him attacking me seemed rather funny cause I knew I could take him...

this year I saw him walking through Henley (that big rowing event in july if you didn't know) and he was such a rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish. Rowers at my school used to be considered, well, its hard to say - elite? - well there were very few of us but we were all pretty successful and really enjoyed it. this guy was one of those who basically took the piss out of rowers for no apparent reason at all so to see him at the years biggest rowing event kind of made me think - you w*nker...he saw me and started heckling etc like the nob he is. I was with the girlfriend at the time so I didn't retaliate...

...next time I'll really lamp him and shut him up...

Aint been in a fight since i was 16, probably cause as soon as someone sees me get angry they run for their lives (or lock me in cupboards)

I dont wanta fight, but sometimes you have no choice. Its also something males are supposed to do in nature, so the odd fight isn't unlikely.

    I take offence to that

    lmao.

I wouldn't consider myself "hard" in the slightest. I wouldn't start a fight ever.

However, if someone was intent on trying to fight me/hurt me I would most likely defend myself even if it requires me to release some adrenaline and take some drastic action :|

Ive ony ever had to punch someone once in my life . . . and (inflated ego warning!) I felt guilty coz I sent him to hospital. But it was the only time when I felt like I had to stand up for myself physically.

Im good at avoiding bad situations, and if I am in one, I can run pretty darn quick (for not very long distances lol!).

Having said that, there was a spot in Bosnia where I thought "Oh ****. Im going to be dead." They're all Arnie-likes over there - and they definately dont like obvious outsiders taking their women . . . especially if they think you're American!

Avoid. I'm 22, *touch wood* and I've never been in a fight and do not wish to. I preferred the weapon of wit, and talking my 'opponents' into not bothering with me. Found out that wit only fuels the fire in some cases. So, if me's me to go back the direction I came from, other side of the road, leaving a pub, etc, I'll do it. I don't like the idea of fighting. Seems primeval. Barbaric. I think we, as a species, have moved on from that. Not wanting to sound up myself, but I feel 'above' it. :\

Anyway ain't no Muhummad-I'm-Hard-Bruce-Lee gonna mess up this fly guys pretty face.

That said, I'm no waife, and would, if it came to it, hit back. Or rather, hit once, hard and run.

Must of had about 7-8 punch up since leaving school (which was a long time ago), the last one was about 4 years ago when I had an alcohol fueled bust up with a m8 after a good drinking session and he fell on top of me (he weighed 16st and me 11st at the time) and busted two of my ribs, my how we laughed about that.

Now I'm a family man and I behave myself and try to avoid being in situations where I get pissed off, i:e I now go to quiet pubs or stay in and have a few indoors.
Also I realised that it bloody hurts more when you get older

Holiday Beautiful country with extraordinary women (2.5:1 ratio of women to men - all beautiful) - bit tense at times coz I was presumed american (skate wear probably).

Was told by a few they've never seen a Chinese person before, so maybe I guess they're apprehensive/protective. There were some who really looked like they had it out for me - and there wouldve been **** all I wouldve been able to do about it - literally "fight for your life" I guess!!
