    Course: BSc Food Science

Year: 1989- 1992 (makes me feel old!!)

Project: (don't laugh!) Egg White Gelation Properties (for Mars confectionery)

Basically involved cooking various solutions of egg white with salt / sugar etc, at different temperature / times, ensuring the pieces of cooked egg white were all consistent in shape and size so that results were comparable. Then I had to use a very exciting texurometer machine to analyse the texture in terms of fragility, softness, "bounciness" kinda thing... exciting huh?!
Mars were pleased anyway.... plus it meant a trip around their factory, and munching things from the line which was rather nice!!

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.... It was them that started me drinking.

    Course: Computer Science BSc

    Date: 2005

    Project: An untouchable Robot

    Description: In progress!
So far I was provided with a stripped down Radio Control Car that has a programmable ARM board (customised and built within University) and I need to implement sensors onto the vehicle and get it to detect and avoid obstacles and humans. Will be using hardware design programs and also C and assembly language programming.
    Woohoo now Assistant Manager!
