I've been off work because I cut my hand open in a crash and I feel a bit crap getting benefits and doing nothing. Back to work to earn good cash soon though!
I had an operation under local anasthetic once, as soon as it was over i promptly walked into work and got on with my job. I stumbled home a few hours later when the anaesthetic wore off and i couldn't carry on working. I got a lot of sympathy though
Take the time off, no point causing stress and pain, unless you want to potentially claim even more sick days in the future
Never feel guitly having the day off even if its cos I can't be bothered to get out of bed, I get 15 rest days a year and I intend on using them all.

P.S. once I cut my finger on a wall-plaster/wood splinter and started to bleed over the carrier bags whilst serving customers. Quickly ran to the back, covered the cut with a plaster and within seconds back serving customers.
Now that's what you call dedication and should receive an award for.......
Woohoo now Assistant Manager!

Retail does suck though, especially those customers that think they own you.
