Well i seem to have tried most of them in the last year, always seem to nic myself when shaving, now using wilkinson sword blue throw a ways, but use plenty of gel. Before shaving i always but a hot flannel on my face for 2 mins just to soften everything.

Was thinking of growing a beard though as it's a great way to cop out from shaving

I'm still using the case of Gillette blades I bought when boots honoured their half price mistake....

I've been investigating some of the disposables recently. Some of the ones with swivel heads are pretty good - with BOGOF you can get 16 razors for about 3 quid!

Gillette really take the p1ss with the prices of their newer Mach 3 tubro-nitro-multi-hello-vera-blade...£2 per blade!!

    Is waxing painful?! ;-p

Hehe, I think the hair removals burn out the roots of the hairs (by either laser or chemicals). And the waxing.. well thats just ripping the hairs out

Not quite so harsh but the concept is similar.

Yup. I can't emphasise this enough though, do NOT wax your face! It will hurt like Hell, it will leave you bruised to buggery, and it still won't work for long if at all. Oh, and you then get all the fun of ingrown hairs to deal with as well. Just don't go there.

Always keep a wax strip stock though, in case someone passes out from drinking.. might be evil but to just stick the wax strips to the eyebrows, then they will have to pull them off themselves

Forget spending £5ish on a small container of KoS that unless you only use a few drops will last less than a couple of weeks! Just pop in to tescos and buy a litre bottle of Grape seed oil for £1.50ish, it's the key ingredient to KoS (check the label, I think it accounts for something like 90%) and works just as well.

I brought KoS and after it was all gone just refilled the bottle with Grape seed oil (easy for travelling and keep the big bottle in the cuboard), trust me it works fine, my skin has never been as good, less iritation than any of the other gels/foams/oils/soap/etc I have tried, I get far less nicks than I used to also, and that one bottle will last over a year! Best bargain I have ever come across

Grape seed oil is used in massaging too. Add some essence in there when your bored, give yourself a rubdown lmao.

Excellent tip - I'm going to try this - for £1.50 what have you got to lose?!

A razor and four blades is £2.28 and a pack of 8 blades is £4.24 (I've checked at Tesco.com..).

Give 'em a try - what have you got to lose?*

*£2.28 and half your face... (no, seriously, they're really good).
Seconded, I use them to shave both my face and my head and I think they're easily as good as many other name brand three bladed razors.

Re: Which razor for a wet shave?

I currently use a Merkur safety razor, boots blades, badger hair brush, and a variety of shaving soaps. I get a much better shave than with a multi blade, and a lot less irratation.

Re: Which razor for a wet shave?

I have the exact same razor (think it was recommended here somewhere), but I don't use it that often. I find I can shave quicker using a Fusion, but still use the badger brush and lather.

Why the bump from 2006 realman? As if we don't already know

I use a Wilkinson Sword Quattro Titanium (lol) because I got a stack of the blades cheap and they seem decent enough. Nothing can touch the Gillette Fusion in terms of cart razors though in my experience.

I just use Morrison's cheap own blades, does the job and costs hardly anything. Only cut myself once so far!.

Re: Which razor for a wet shave?

Personally I blade and use electric, neither one of them can shave my face and neck individually, and I've tried so many I have lost count.

Dry shave with my Phillips which is quite new (x730 or something, looks like Carbon Fibre also, nice looking), then I blade my lower neck and any little hairs that the eletric won't get unless I go crazy and that means bumps + cuts lol.

The new Phillips was an absolute killer for the first 4-5 weeks of usage, would rip my face and neck off, but I can honestly say it is the best eletric shaver I have had, quiet, gets as close as you can get (a blade gets slightly closer on my face, but you cannot see the difference, only feel ever so slightly), which is why I go over my upper face and lower neck with a blade after ever so quickly.

If I use a blade alone, it will refuse to shave 80% of my hairs and and I find them a pain in the ass to use, and if I use an electric alone it will never get some of my neck hairs (but I like total perfection, so to the average person the Phillips alone would be brilliant).
