anyone seen it yet? I went last night (birthday! yay me) and thought it was very cool in places and not so cool in others.
first off I was really hoping to see at least some of the quiddich world cup, I mean they build it up enough and then suddenly we cut right to them in their tent! what happened? we could at least get a match of the day highlights type thing couldn't we? its odd as it starts with him waking up - where? well, most would know but those who haven't read the book would be none the wiser, i found that a little odd too.
i found it jumped a great deal from one scene to the next without actually explaining a great deal, for those that haven't read the book the leaps were probably too great to take in what was going on, the scene with barty crouch's death for example - bit of a loose string.
cool bits were the trials for the tournament but I felt that the film squeezed out the 'story' part of the book in order to fit the tournament in, almost ignoring the subplot of what actually was going on. things like harry and malfoy didn't really happen like in the other films nor did snape that much (alan rickman = awesome when he does feature though, annoying he can't be in it more).
so, whether its down to the director's descision or what - although it was good - i reckon the bits that were cut out probably should have been used. for the sake of a couple of extra minutes of play time small details would have made a real difference! on balance the third film was probably better...mind you the third one had that awesome spanish director didn't it who did motorcyle diaries and y mama tambien, tough act to follow that sort of quality.
just wondering what you guys thought of it...
