    Nvidia - I don't get it?

What is the power of 3 stuff?? Just seen it on Scan's website and am a bit confused...

N : In the green corner the world heavyweight weighing in at 512mb
I thought the x1800xt was 512mb before the 512mb gtx?

    N : Round 1 - Shader Model 3.0

    I thought the x1800xt has SM 3.0?

    N : Round 2 - SLI
Thats taking the piss a bit considering ATI can't have that as its what Nvidia have called their technology

    N : Round 3 - High Dynamic Range
Again I thought the x1800xt has HDR?

    N : Knockout by Nvidia
So what am i missing here?

(I'm not a massive fan boy either way I just don't understand how nvidia can claim to be best at all of these things?)

i think it was mostly to do with slinging mud at ati when the X850 series was still their top performer and hoping some of it stuck in the minds of people when choosing between the 7800 and X1800.

Its just marketing garbage, like when manufacturers list a 9800SE as "based on the worlds most powerfl GPU" - yeh based on the most powerful GPU of like 3 years ago, and only based on, for the SE they mutilated the lovely R350.

Shader model 3.0 is rarely seen in games...

And ATi's equivilant of SLI is called crossfire...

And finally even the X800 Pro can do HDR

I assume nVidia marketing is referring to owning the performance crown again. As I've said in a number of posts, the performance for this gen is close enough to be negligible. Stop paying attention to marketing and pay attention to price. Of course, if you're not in the market for one of the products, ignore everything (or you're just a fanboy).

Yeah just standard marketing rubbish ignore it methinks

The only real thing that Nvidia has over ATI at the moment is that ATI completely ignore Stereo3D, whereas Nvidia fully support it and even have a dedicated support forum for it.

This is why i really regret my purchase of an X800 over a 6800gt Performance wise it's great, but a lack of stereo 3d support makes my 3d glasses useless with this card

Hasn't the 512MB 7800GTX had its clock speed seriously increased now? I thought it was now undoutebly the fastest card money can buy

It is the fastest, but not by much. You aren't going to notice a difference of several frames per second (unless it is extremely low; read: unplayable anyway).
