Somewhere near my house. Big enough to wake everyone up, and to set hangers rattling in my closet. Nothing visible outside, but heavy fog.

Did anyone hear/feel a huge explosion at 6.02am this morning? I woke up at around 6.00am and my block of flats shook and I saw a bright white light outside followed by some rumbling for around a second.
I'm fairly close to Heathrow so I hope something bad hasn't happened.
I didn't see your post (was too shaken up!). I posted about this on another thread. Felt it near Heathrow at 6.02am.
Blimey, I thought I was dreaming. I woke up at exactly that time, as did my wife, and we both said "what was that"? I found some books had fallen over in my daughters room and thought it was that, but I'm sure the house shook slightly. I live in Reading...
I posted on your thread as well Taz - didn't see this one.
I live in Reading, and woke up at 6am, the house having shaken slightly.
From that BBC news article:
"The first blast happened at 0603 GMT, at the Buncefield oil depot, close to the junction 8 of the M1 motorway 10 miles from Luton Airport."
Thats a long way from where i live. Surely I wouldn't have felt that in Reading? I guess its possible cos it was apparently a HUGE explosion. This is worrying:
"Several other neighbours said they did see a plane go into the depot."
I'm around 22 miles from Hemel Hemstead. I heard, felt and saw the flash from the blast! It was a truly awful as I thought a plane had crashed near Heathrow. I cannot imagine the power of the explosion to have felt it 22 miles away.
We're about 5 miles away from this - it scared the s*** out of us, and the entire neighbourhood apparently. There are police cars queueing up at the local petrol station already.
It's the Buncefiled Oil Distibution depot in Hemel Hempstead - right on junction 8 of the M1. This depot feeds a good percentage of the South East, both directly through pipework, and tanker distribution.
It's directly linked with Luton Airport too...
I've been out and about, and talked to a guy who said he works up there, and was adamant it couldn't have been an accident. He rekons the safety precautions are too tight for anything of this scale to happen.
BBC News24 have suggested that an aircraft was seen taking a dive, but that's not been confirmed. S*** bob, too close to home for my liking.....
I'll get more pics when I can..

Oh bloody hell, casualty's too...
Would of been dark at 6am, would you really be able to see a plane crash into it?. (Obviously you would see lights but yeah).
Hope it is just an 'accident'.
Latest is that the police are treating it as an accident.
Live on BBC 24.
God, the sky is just black and orange
According to the BBC article, there are 20 x 3 MILLION gallon tanks on site.
