Bah.. Anything to save money. Unlucky pal
No offence to people who work in call centres overseas... But they're useless. They can barely speak English and rarely are able to help besides the simple things. I smile when I get through to an English person, or someone who is able to fluently understand what I'm talking about
Edit: This post is in no way meant to be racist btw

Harsh i remember something like this happening in burm a few months back, the workers woke up to find out that had lost there job on GMTV! So they didn't bother going in anymore just quit/Strike
That sucks big style... I thought companies had realised that outsourcing your jobs to the East results in reduced customer satisfaction? We have a service desk in Mumbai and most of our staf will do anything to avoid calling them.
It not ideal - I'm not a Big fan of BT's DSL support at the best of times. ( Zen FTW - if you fancy the move get a job with them !)
Thank heavens I let our networks team deal with them

Howard - I agree with you, and I'm a big leftie :-)
It's not racist at all - It's a language barrier that exists for any country that has to deal with people from another country to theirs. It's not fair on the call staff in this country, and it's not fair on the call centre staff in India, because they get lumped with a load of frustrated people who can't understand what's going on.
The situation in India is far from perfect - the turnover of call centre staff is appalling, and it's no good for anyone, regardless of which side of the world you're on.
Probably selling the building up for development into 'luxury aparetments' like the rest of Derby. There's all ready a load on utox new road.
Indeed - there already some being built across the road from the offices.Originally Posted by Konan555

I was living just the other side of the road BTW (where the chippy is)
If they havn't given you any notification, then this is a good thing, for two possible reasons;
Your not going to lose your job,
You can take them to court for not informing you, and you could get compensation.
Correct me if I'm wrong but yeah.
I'm sure I will recieve a letter tomorrow morning or at least be told when I get to work tomorrow evening.Originally Posted by XA04

Possibly. Besides, if it does happen in March, I don't think they have to tell you for a couple months or so before (I'm not sure legally how long but I'm guessing it's probably a couple of months).
I'm also with the people who think that support from India(I'm being blunt here, if it offends you, tough) is generally rubbish. I want people who understand the problem I'm having, if there is a serious issue with communication, which there too often is, then forget them helping me with my problem, I just have to accept some basic advice, since they dont understand half my responses anyway :|
As others have said, Zen FTW, try to get a job with them, they like their support personal to be able to speak an intelligible version of English. Tough luck mate, hope you find something else soon
I know how you guys feel. But Plus.net tech support has been good, as has Orange.
Everything else I've ever used has been crap, I have to repeat myself about 50 times. I remember once I was talking to a guy on T-mobile a few years ago, and I was trying to figure out what he was saying for about 5 minutes, it was very very annoying.
I'm not been racist, it's just as someone else said, a language barrier. If anyone is been racist it's the companies who are using people who they can take advantage of to pay less.
Bastards.
