    iPod Headphones dead!

Ok I'm on an iPod Nano having owned a number of different iPods before this, and I've just turned it on to discover that the headphones now make an unbelievably irritating noise through the left ear-piece. Well they've blown or whatever the equivalent for headphones is.

Does anybody know of a way to sort this out through Apple? Is there a phone number you can ring? I bought it the day it went live on the Apple website so it's probably 3months+ old now, that should still be covered right?

Anybody else had iPod headphones die on them?

    Thanks,

    ShMeE

You can send them your headphones and they will repair/replace them under the iPod warrenty....which iirc is 12months?

a better idea might be to buy some decent headphones?

the standard ones that come with any player tend to be poor/saw/break.

The iPod ones, seam to excell at providing high rates of all of those critirea.

If your rich, get some Sure headphones, if not try the nice sony "ear canal" ones, these can be picked up for £20, are very comfy and have much better sound quality.

I'd personally suggest getting some ones that don't make you a target for muggers as well... ie - not apple white.

    I have other headphones

Was planning on selling my ipod nano and would like to have working headphones before then so that the buyer doesn't complain!

I would love to buy a pair of sure headphones, not more than £100 ones though, do you reckon they're really worth it?

the e2c are a good pair of headphones, well worth £50. As for the more expensive shure creations, well depends on the noise level in your environment as to wether it will make ur experiance better enough to justify the cost.

with an ipod you want a small easy-to-drive set of phones that are portable.

sennheiser px-100s or koss portapros are best imo

Just a suggestion from myself, Although I personally have not tried these out I am very interested in these as ive heard alot of good reports from a couple of guys who work here at Scan

    [LINKY ]

Other than that, please dont go back to Ipod headphones firstly for the reasons David said its branding you for a good muggin at some point and secondly they are not good compaired to alot of other ones which you can get for a few pounds now

sennheiser px-100s gets my second vote thought... /droooooool

they say the ear canal ones are safer cos you can have the volume right down, but i'm not so sure as surely if its right inside your ear is more likely to cause damage anyway? so if you have it too loud and its right inside...ouch

head down to the nearest apple store, they should replace em for you, personally I don't rate ipod headphones at all, they always seemed to be struggling slightly to my ears, got a nice set of jvc ones now though.
