    ipod questions

Sorry if some of these are silly. Just picked up a second hand 3g ipod 40 gig and an itrip and i'm pretty clueless about it

I assume i have to use itunes to transfer music? Does that mean that i can't use lossless audio?

i have the dock and everything with it, can i use the dock with USB to charge the ipod or does it have to be firewire?

What radio frequency and band does the Itrip broadcast at? (i unfortunately didn't get Itrip instructions)

Finally can i play audio from the ipod rather than storing it on the computer? I'm mainly using my laptop with a 30 gig hd at the momment so if i could remove the music to keep on teh ipod that would be very useful.

    Thanks for your help

You need to use itunes although there is some other software out there that you can use. Not 100% sure about looless audio.

The dock will charge it as well

I'm pretty sure that the trip will broacast on the lowest frequency.

You can transfer the audio to the ipod and then delete the files from your PC.

Thanks for the response. I can't seem to get the unit to charge via USB, not a real concern though.

By storring the music on the ipod can i transfer it back okay? I noticed when i plugged it in the first time that it wiped the hard disk and locked itself to my itunes. That would be a bit of a problem because i have 2 computers in the house that i would like to plug it into.

    Thanks Again

There is an option in itunes so you can encode you music in apple lossless format if you want to.
