ebay fraud?

I seem to be getting a load of bids on my ram I stuck up - in the regions of 5p increments. None of these guys have any feedback therefore I presume these guys are part of this new fraud where they get paid to place ebay bids even if they don't win...

Any ideas who I can report them to? or shall I just ignore them?

Report them if you feel fit without hesitations, if you feel sorry for there stupid idea just let them be.........................

What do you mean by who should i report them too.............ebay possibly? (sorry if im mis-understanding you in any way)

I think what they are doing is just silly, try leaving a message to one of them, like saying your warning them etc - they might get bored - who knows..............

It looks like there is quite a few in it too.

yeah, they get paid 10p a bid I think - but it's against the T&C of the site they signed up to. They group together - I think it's groups of chinese with organised crime.

Has your listing been pulled? I couldn't get to it?

am sure you can prevent bids in your preferences for anyone less than (eg) 5 feedback

plus you can exclude people from certain countries, though that is less of an issue here

yeah, I didn't know I could restrict it from <5 feedback - any ideas how?

listing is still there, but I think I may have pasted the bidding which is probablby private until the deadline. The item ID is there, but I didn't want to promote my item.

anyhooo - I reported him to ebay since he was only defrauding them. I don't care if they go upto £300 as long as they pay it!

If they waste my listing fees however, anyone know how I can trace them?!

ebay have stochasitic analysis on all their auctions (aparrently!) to detect phantom bidding, this would be a me selling say a rare collectable card, and using a friend to drive up the price that another guy is going to pay, as he is really the only person who is going to pay over £100 for it, but he's willing to pay £300, so lets drive him there.

As such i'm sure they'll of figured out these phantom agents, and its only a matter of time before they devise a way of making it harder for them. Things like human interaction images (ones that can't easily be read by a computer) on sign in would be one way. But i doubt they'd want to be so draconian.

I got an email from eBay today saying that they recognised this was a growing problem and were implimenting measures to help detect people who use fake bids as a way to make money through their commission junction program.

Had something very similiar recently the guy bid in increments of 50p up to £16, then suddenly he withdrew all his bids, reason given "could not contact seller". Either it was a really lame scammer or a ebay n00b.

Ebay is getting worse and worse for fraud. It's far to easy to register. I wish they would have a UK only policy. i.e. email, address, bank details, credit card etc.

It could be one person with lots of fake accounts and a bot just trying to find the bare-minimum reserve-beater?
