Bastards.
Is there actually any point to this? Has Oaten spoken out against using rent boys in the past?
Remember, if you see a News of the World journalist on fire, DON'T piss on them. Point and laugh instead.

tabloid papers usually are and always have been full of bs tbh...
the way they blow something out of proportion without regards for anyone else is the most annoying to...
who cares if he had a rent boy?
I imagine the rent boy cared.......Originally Posted by idimmu

but the moralities of prostitution is another discussion all together. But to be fair its not just the news of the worlds fault, this is also people in general, as its them who would be swayed by any backlash which he has premetivly resigned for (thats the problem, only a politition who'd do that would i want to vote for, and obviously their not ever going to make it to PM).

Nope, I'm afraid not. Prostitution is legal in the UK.Originally Posted by TheAnimus
Stories like this are meat and drink to the Murdoch gutter press. IIRC, one of the NotW journalists was arrested for trying to get a job at Buckingham Palace using false credentials. The paper argued that she was just doing her job! The same paper has also set up the England football manager recently.
The problem is that a lot of the great unwashed in this country continue to buy Murdoch's papers simply to avoid having to think for themselves! How many times do you see comments like, "Sun readers will want..." or "NotW readers will want..." in the stories these papers carry? It's as if the editor is speaking in behalf of its readership.
Could someone explain to me how relationships with a rent boy effect his performance at work?
QFT - it appears generating one's own thoughts on the matter is a bit too much for some.Originally Posted by Taz
News of the world...... surely the title is misleading as last time I remember looking at said paper (a vey long time ago) there was no news in it.

From my understanding of the law (i've only ever done some study of contract law, so its probably wrong) its legal, except for most of the activities which accompony it.Originally Posted by Rave
But the fact of the matter is, a rent boy, is still in our society not considered a good carrer, and whilst say in germany, netherlands they have a well controlled regulated industry with lots of tests and inspections, there is no such goverment help available here.
Now, this is the thing, i've gone out with someone who had been pimped by her step dad, she obviously wasn't a practicing prossie, and had some very very messed up issues regarding sex, and personal physical interaction. But going out with someone who is still practicing is another matter all together. Okay, so maybe i'm on the homophobic side of the prostitution fence, its just when your going into politics, your personal life becomes public. The actions you take in personal life are a reflection of the ones you will make in goverment, as such I'm glad a certain home secretry resigned when it turned out he was cheating on his wife. People who have the ability to cheat on someone they love will have no problem what so ever selling out their country. So on this someone who'd sleep with a practicing rent boy (even if he didn't have to pay, and loved the guy) dosen't strike me as the kind of person i want to vote for. Combined with the ideals of democracy and freedom of speach, i should get told that, so i don't vote for someone i dislike surely?
Don't get me wrong, i'm not a fan of the tabloids but with the sun, news of the world, you know what your getting.
The mirror and gardian piss me off far more.
(i still think a certain mirror editor should of been had up for treason).

The last point equally applies to the vast majority of politicians. Gutter press journos and politicians are as bad as each other. If Oaten didn't want his private life exposing, he should have chosen an alternate career.Originally Posted by Rave

My point precisely. Its been known for other MPs to get into affairs etc, yet when it involves 2 men... the media run around like its christmas again?!Originally Posted by Nick

Hardly a trait you want in a politition, it dosen't matter if he's gay, straight, or having an affair with a transvestite dwarf. Its hardly a desrible attribute.
The way people behave in personal life, often has many characteristics which they demonstrait in their personal life.
Hence why i think that information has a right to be in the public domain.

Thats a bit presumptious. People have sex, big deal. Is there any evidence to suggest his personal behaviour has biased or effected his performance?Originally Posted by TheAnimus
