    Web Host Help/Advice

One of the web pages I support (not the one in my sig!), the hosting and domain name are due for renewal. I do not want to continue with them, and have emailed them asking that they cancel the account and give me the details soI can autherize a domain tansfer to another host. So far they have not replied to my emails, even ones sent through their own site.

This happened last year and I let it go really, but do not want it to happen this year as I want to move. I rang Mastercard whos details are on their site so they can automatically renew and charge said payments. I found it strange that M/C wont put a block on any company with regard to payments, it seems when you give a company your details, you sign up for life kinda thing. So the only thing they could do was cancel the card and issue a different strip number. Fine.

So what do I do about the domain transfer? I don't mind about the files as they are backed up, I am more concerned with the domain. Any ideas? Email the registrar directly?

Try this page from Nominet: http://www.nominet.org.uk/registrant...angeagent/faq/

What if my registration agent can't help?

95% of cases involving a change of registration agent are made without any problems. However, sometimes your existing registration agent may refuse to move your domain name to a new registration agent. In this case, Nominet can help you by intervening and making the change for you. However, this will not cancel any existing contracts between you and your registration agent and you are still liable to pay any fees owed to them.

    How can Nominet help?

You will need to complete an online application form in order to change your registration agent. You will asked to be pay a small charge of £15 (plus VAT) to move the domain name to a new provider and you will also be asked to pay Nominet for any outstanding fees that are associated with the domain name.
And so on, and so forth.

One problem, nominet does uk addresses, this is an .org address, so who would I go to? The domain isn't in nominets database.

Plus I would still need authourisation from my current host, which they aren't giving.

I have finally got a response, they deny getting any emails from me. Which is poor. Have filled in the cancelations form. So I guess we'll see where this goes.

Yeah, they finally gave me the code. Apparently blueyonder.co.uk was blocked at their server because of spamming.

Anyway they have apologised and I now have everything to get going somewhere else.
