^ I was thinking of getting the Kooks, heard them on the radio yesterday and thought they sounded pretty cool.

Have bought the Arctic Monkeys but it hasnt made a major impression on me, not the worst Ive ever heard.

Am also probably going to buy The Editors new CD - anyone got any views on their stuff?

This year should be a good one for Indie gigs as there are plenty of new albums on the way out - reckon the festivals in the summer will be awesome.
Personally Im looking forward to the new one from Embrace and Snow Patrol.

Editors are good, very good in fact. But interpol who they take ALOT of inspiration from are a cut above, hence why they are no.1 for me according to last.fm

So to be a real fan you have to spend your time hunting down bands that you hear of by word of mouth before they get popular, so you can claim you are a 'real' fan.

As opposed to if you have a life that doesn't revolve around growing your hair, and the first time you do hear a band is either TV or radio, which obviously makes you a 'fake' fan?

    Tool.

Yeah Editors are really good live, seen them supporting Franz Ferdinand in Newcastle last year... Also The Rakes are really good, off to see them on Tuesday!

    Try them both..

Had enough of the album too, everyone is like 'wow its so amazing' but any real fan had heard almost all of the tracks ages ago when they had them for download on their forums.
No I was saying that Ive had enough of the 'new' album that Ive heard ages ago.

This is the new 'The Darkness'. They'll be the best thing ever for about 12-18 months and then they'll fizzle out.

I haven't heard the whole album yet..but what i have heard was ok

I think the previous fastest selling British album (or whatever it was the achieved) was the Hear'say album....

Although I think the Darkness is alright, I tottally agree with you there.

I don't really like them, and I'm pretty sure they will be short lived.. I really can't see why anyone likes them.

    Agreed, I stopped buying NME.

It's not about new music any more, it's just seeing how long you can ride on one over-hyped album (The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight etc.)
