That number that stops sales people calling?

Whats the number that was once posted for sales people to stop phoning you?

It's not happening often but someone keeps calling me from an 0800 number (08001385425 to be exact), I've never answered yet but it's happened a few times and I've read about it so I think I know what it is.

Wasn't their a website you can submit your number to and you stop getting the calls?

    Thans

It worked for us We've had FAR less calls than before we registered. Still get one or two, which doesn't bother us.

even though the companies call from outside the UK the list they use s provided by the UK company, therefore they have to stick to the rules.

If someone does call you after 4 weeks then all you say when thye say hello is that you are on TPFS and they appologise and hangup.

If they repeatedly do it then you can report them and they are heavily fined

At the end of the day if they are too persuasive I have to become quite rude, where I have to interrupt what they are saying and say 'I would not like any future calls from this service, otherwise I shall sue you' lol. I have no idea how much power I have in this scenario of sueing, but its only a fake threat ^_^

Im registered with the TPS and I got another errant call from some company selling upgrades for 'my Orange mobile' (I havent been with Orange for 5+ years). I detonated at her - that felt good.

I would not mind letting a few slip, but somehow I got so many (sometimes 6 a day more more) i registed with the TPS. Stopped about 25% of them and even after a year i still go so many that i actually had to stop using the line.

Yeah, I had a mobile call from someone claiming to be from O2 offering me an upgrade (wasn't due for a month) and when he got the end of his blurb he said it was with 3. I said I'd think about it and never picked up from that number again.

Well you've got to remember that the people on the other end of the phone aren't doing it for the pleasure of irritating people (well, usually). Often they're just people who are doing their job, and they might not be able to get a less sucky job. That job might be well important to them or their family. Sucky jobs are bad enough, but getting even more abuse for your sucky job isn't really fair.

The TPS does work well, however if you are on a mass phone list before you register you will still be rung - but each company that rings you has to take you off if you tell them you are on the TPS. So it does take a while, and it also takes a few corrections, but then it really does work.

i wouldnt even mind so much if the calls were from UK centres! i get really irritated by people who cant speak adequate english phoning me up and not understanding what i'm saying. The "you've won a holiday" recordings do my nut in too.

i understand people are just doing their jobs, but at least they could employ people in this country instead of outsourcing.

Recording I can't stand, sometimes it can be nice to have a little chat to someone in india about this and that. Make a cuppa tea while your at it. Play the game where you dont say anything and see how long it takes them to hang up.

Or let out some anger by telling them to stick there phone/holiday where the song doesnt shine.
