Bloody hell, you're asking a lot!

Sorry to be a pain, but there are loads of problems with what you've asked:

    - If you've got to design it, then using a template is cheating, surely?
    - If you've never used photoshop before, you're going to be pushed to be able to learn how to use it before Tuesday.
    - What is it actually for? Poster design depends on what you're selling. You wouldn't advertise a Thrash Metal CD with pictures of cute fluffy kittens on it, and you wouldn't advertise stationery supplies accompanied by a selection of fresh country vegetables. You need to be WAY more specific!!
    - What style are you aiming for?
    - What images are you working with? Illustrations? Photos?
    - How much text are you using?
    - Photoshop isn't really the best program to use to make a standard poster - I'd personally stick with a DTP program such as MS Publisher (unless you *have* to use photoshop)

Like I said, sorry to sound critical, but if you want any help, you've got to be prepared to do work yourself.

(My god, I sound like a proper Dad now )

    Ditto what Mike says.

If the idea is to take an existing poster and 100% Photoshop fake your own, then that’s a bit lazy and probably not much quicker than starting from scratch. And not very ink efficient either!
Some white space on your poster will look very impressive to whoever pays for the ink cartridges in your household

If you haven’t got DTP software then you can download for free openoffice from www.openoffice.org and use Impress. That will have templates you can use as a starting point. Other templates can be found on walls.

You could Photoshop effect some photos or artwork and include them on the poster, but DTP for assembly of the poster really would be the best sw to use. Or failing that wordprocessing software. And last option, art materials and alphabet stencil.

If i were you, i'd start by hand drawing a rough outline/plan, then working out how you are going to put it on computer

    hi

i only found out i had to do the poster 2 days ago, its a long story but basically i thought we only had to do a presentation but it turns out i need 2 A2 templates as well. i accept using a template is cheating but if i had know about it before i would have made more of an effort, its not course work or anything just a group project

its basically for a computer mouse we have had to market for the past 4 weeks - half sales half information on technical spec in a high class modern look

we have a number of screen shots, technical drawings and charts, not looking for a load of text just for information our teacher seems to like simple and clean which plays well for us.

however i would still like to do something good, as it seems to let the project down on one point

thanks for the advice so far
