Webcam for use with MSN Messenger

Does anyone use voice and video with MSN Messenger? If so, which webcams are good quality and good value? I'm after something that'll do the job and I don't need any fancy features. Just good quality audio and video via MSN Messenger.

There are just so many to choose from but i'm guessing that the video quality will vary enormously. In particular, the low light performance should be reasonable as this is where much of the quality tends to fall off in many video cameras.

I believe the quality is cut down on MSN Messenger no matter what type of webcam you use... so that it doesn't lag and the such.

Any cheapo one would do the trick - even a £5 digital camera should work.

I can tell the difference between my old '2 for £25 from Argos' webcam, and my Logitech Sphere on MSN. The spheres quality is much much better, along with colours. The Sphere though, isn't good value at £75 (last time I checked). Im not sure a cheap digital camera would be much better either, if a webcam costing £12.50 is rubbish, and a digital camera costing a fiver works much better, then why hasn't everyone bought cheap digital camera's? Plus, most cheapo webcams/digital camera's don't come with mics/decent mics afaik.

Logitech seem to know their stuff when it comes to peripherals, so I'd start looking at their range of webcams which can be picked up from around £15.

I found this one on Amazon that seems to be highly rated (29 user reviews, 4.5 stars out of 5):

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...744311-7363929

Just wondering if anyone has experience of it?

Yep, I can vouch for that too. Not a bad camera, and not too pricey either.

Funnily, the best quality webcam I've used with MSN, has to be my sister's PS2 Eye toy camera! lol Has no mic though.
