Cheers for pointing it out - I never knew he did books as well.

Its got a foreword by his friend John Lahr, who essentailly compiled the book from Hick's letters, lyrics and routines. If your in a bookshop and having trouble finding it try searching for John Lahr - or just pop down to Amazon.co.uk

The one book i would recommend to anyone would be The lord of the rings trilogy, that has to be my favourite and the one i would keep out of all my collection. If i were allowed more then i would have to add the silmarillion.

Also Contact by Carl Sagan is very good, another one thats better than the film.

But if i were allowed lots of books then anything by Terry Pratchett would be fine, i haven't read a bad book by him yet, but thats my opinion, i think Good Omens is his standout book, although it was written with Neil Gaiman.

The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald

did this in english and actually really liked it. I'd forgotten about it until Of Mice And Men was mentioned, we did that too.

I'd also recomend anyone to read Shopped: The Shocking Power of British Supermarkets by Joanna Blythman

I second a brief history of nearly everything.
While the depth isn't fantastic, the breadth of it is incredible.
Plus I've not read a more entertaining science book.

    Joseph Heller - Catch 22

An all time classic that's not only funny but also shows how insane the world really is and that being sane in an insane world is not necessarily a good survival tactic.
