I was amazed by a stupid comment made by someone at work the other day, and have to share this story.
I was visiting a manufacturing facility, and product tester was being installed, and as I was standing next to it a air supply hose came out and started blowing around. It was flicking everywhere, and while it was a very small hose, it was moving extremely fast.
Eventually the guy using the machine got to a valve switch and turned it off, but not before the hose had flicked around his head a few times.
I noticed he had his safety glasses on top of his head instead of over his eyes, and commented that it would have been embarressing if he had been hit in the eye.
A near-by worker replies:
"It's probably a good thing he didn't have the safety glasses on because IF HE GOT HIT IN THE EYE, THEY COULD HAVE SMASHED AND HURT HIM MORE"
THEY WERE SERIOUS! OMFG, I had to just walk away.
