Hopefully someone will have had my organs in a transplant well before then6 Within three days of death, the enzymes that once digested your dinner begin to eat you. Ruptured cells become food for living bacteria in the gut, which release enough noxious gas to bloat the body and force the eyes to bulge outward.
hah, good read that. Morbid.....yet interesting.
I had to read that a few times.. very strange :|Originally Posted by leeglf
Because old age itself won't kill you, something else will be the underlying cause. By 1951 this was well understood.
In the same way a gun shot won't kill you but the resulting blood loss will...Originally Posted by Funkstar

It's now impossible for death to be classed as "of old age" in America.
EDIT: The one that got me was the last one.
100 Billion humans have died EVER, and the current population is 6.7% of that number. That's massive - really shows how serious the population growth has been!
In other words, the same number of humans that have died in the last quarter of a million years are predicted to die within the next 800 years.

"10 The vultures are now dying off after eating cattle carcasses dosed with diclofenac, an anti-inflammatory used to relieve fever in livestock."
Oh great! The same pills that I take occasionally for my arthritis can also be used for vulture poison.
Still it might be useful if those guys over at theregister.co.uk every get on my nerves

Was interested by this article, so checked out Wikipedia for more details. Turns out suicide is the 10th most common cause of death in the developed world, with approx. 449,000 dying from it each year.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death#Cell_death, interesting yet rather morbid stuff.
I think they classify it as 'gun shot wounds', or describe the consequences as well as the cause?Originally Posted by RavenNight

Eep.
Is this because the majority cant afford health insurance?18 Eighty percent of people in the United States die in a hospital.
Actually birth rates in most of europe and america are falling, so even though people are living longer population levels in the west are in theory falling, its just china pushing up the average tbhOriginally Posted by unreal
