I know this might sound harsh, but i've worked with children disturbed enough to volentere this thing, whilst not seaming underage, and porn going round kids isn't really news. However, i would imagine the girl to be distressed, even if it not rape, but I'm not going to say this isn't what i expect of society. But jailing the 'gang' for that longer peroid of time might seam harsh if the sex act was consentual.

If on the hand she has been raped, 10 year as a maximum jail term is an insult.

That would be a very dangerous route to go down. Recently a fella from Northamptonshire was released from prison after 5 years when the girl he supposedly 'raped' admitted she had made it up.

Although I sometimes feel like the people who do these things should be killed/maimed/tortured for eternity, it would open up a can of worms. After all the people who prosecute criminals are human afterall and mistakes are made.

lets be honest its no where near as servere as killing someone is it, nowhere near by any stretch yes, its wrong very wrong, but at the end of the day its not like you have just mutilated a body or two and killed them forever..

Oh! right! she's just been violated in the most horrible way, but it's ok because she's not Dead?????? how many years do you think this will affect her for???? they have ruined her life, she might never have a normal relationship again because of what these things ( they don't deserve to be called human ) did to her, rape is the most horrible thing you can do to someone imho, worse that mureder because the after effects can last a lifetime.... but then you don't have any idea anyway, because if you did you wouldn't make such statements.

I don't think he's saying it's ok, just giving some perspective on things, as he said death is permanent.

If anything is to be subject to copral punishment it should be murder, with rape the punishment doesn't fit the crime, never mind as iMc pointed out the false claims that happen all the time. Personally from a man's point of view I would find it very disturbing that I could be killed just because some girl decided she didn't like me and claimed rape.

Just thought I'd add my bother's a policeman who knows a female officer that specialises in rape cases. She says in her experience about 90% of rape accusations are false

its strange because i've always had a distinction between rape and abuse, i personally consider abuse to be very different too 'pro-longed repeative rape' which is the only way some people seam to think it is.

This will sound wrong to start, disclaimer.

I had a small fit this time last year, when i realised two thirds of the girls i've had relations (sex) with have been raped. Only one has actually been abused.

I was worried, very selfishly that i might be looking for undersible characteristics that are the by product of such distress, i was woundering why my relationships always ended quite so quickly. This bugged the hell out of me (i can get quite obsessive about such things).

Now, first proper girl friend, oh dear. She'd been abused, properly abused, step dad pimp style. But she was really largely over it, her trust issues where virtually non excistant and she was a really loving person. But she did have commitment issues, However, considering any relationship with two under 16s in the situation like ours, the outcome was hardly surprising.

More recently, 22 year old, rebounding from a 2 year + relationship, breaks down on the 2nd date in tears, nothing kills an errection faster than "the postman raped me at knife point in the corridor". Now this one was slightly more worrying, she hadn't told anyone before (assuming she was telling me the truth) and, the purpetrater was (probably still is) doing the postal route, because of her fear to goto the police (because she was known to them as a trouble maker, more so than i!). Now this isn't healthy, as such she had not even begun to overcome the problems of 5 years ago. This one pisses me off, #1 she's selfish, he oculd be re-offending, she should get the courrage for this alone. its hurting her, by telling me, then gaging me, and ultimately breaking up the relationship because i wasn't able to be therapist and kept trying to force her to see someone about it scared her too much. The metaphore of locking the problem up in the dark crevise of the mind is most apt.

Now, another story, house party, and first time on weed. Stupid, just bloody stupid, rule one of getting smashed kids, do it with people you REALLY trust. well she didn't, and apparently lost her virginity to someone she can't even remeber, who did a runner the next day. She seams to have no problems at all. And i tend to think she might of been lieing, she was a self harmer (from before the incident happened, she never admitted it but the scars where just plain obvious, once u've seen that type before) Now i think it was a fabrication, she was never good at admitting mistakes, and rather than loosing her virginity in a one night stand, i think she would of rathered created a fantasy of some morbid depravity. Loverly!

So thats the end of my rant, to conclude, i've used 3 stories that show the effect that i've felt of rape. One i personally think to be ficticious. My real coming to terms with all that emotional baggage is that only one had couped with it properly, the one who was abused at a much more vunerable age, by someone in a position of turst.

So shelly, i strongly disagree with your viewpoint, there are MANY things worse in life than rape, and when you see the effect on other (fairly complex animals, bonobo's ie) then i think its more society tells people its worse than it really is, some people actually seam to want this fealing (self harm 2.0 - beyound the razer blades?)and as i've seen people can make very complete recoveries when they truely admit it, talk about it, and confront it. Pushing it to the back of the mind because of a socail phopar is the real tradogy, as is making it seam more horrific than it really is.

That really annoys me, as it makes the genuine cases so much harder to identify and means people with genuine problems are scared to come forward because they think the police will think they're faking it.

I've been accused of rape myself and it seems to me it fly's round as an accusation now amongst teenage girls merely as a way of gaining sympathy/attention and getting back at ex's.
