    Question What's happened to ebuyer.com?

[Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I couldn't find a more suitable discussion area. Please move the thread if it's in the wrong place. ]

I tried to access www ebuyer.com before going to bed last night, but the site wasn't responding, and it's still inaccessable now. So I was wondering, is anyone else is seeing the same thing?

It's really annoying me 'cause I just placed an order yesterday and I want to check on its status.

(I'm asking here, since Hexus.net seems to be a good place to discuss customer service issues with online retailers.)

The site is down for at least 2 hours now, I've been trying to access their website since I woke up this morning.

A lot of sites do maintenance over the weekend. Let's hope it's nothing more than that!

Seems to be backup now but loading VERY slowly.

You'd think they would have stuck up some "we'll be back soon" page though telling people why they were down if it was simply some scheduled work?

Yup. ebuyer.com is available, but if you include the www in the address it still doesn't work.

i can dig it (geek pun)

basically the server has been moved, but your DNS hasn't updated. DNS has a TTL (time to live) so that when your computer requests a name translation (www.ebuyer.com to ip address) it assumes the name won't change for the TTL.

Now this is worsend by the fact your DNS server isn't going to be the "real deal" DNS works on having root servers, and servers connected to that and so forth, if anyone on your ISP made a request 2 hours ago, the TTL might well be over a day before the ISP DNS server will call the higher uppers to find out that its changed.
throw new ArgumentException (String, String, Exception)
