very true there Rave. Thats probably the best way to deal with this. They might even like you better for this in the long run.

Basically, some poeple are good drunks, others are bad. I think i'm quite good when a bit rubbery, generally just go quiet and sleepy, often quite huggy (where girls are concerned) but generally try to keep eveyone in order and hold jackets etc.

Of course there are exceptions when we do something completely stupid and often involving bodily fluids being expelled at the wrong point in time. We've all been there

I don't, even when I'm really drunk I'm usually the last person up and making sure everyone's sorted for beds/taxis/etc.

Fair enough if you don't like the taste or effects, don't drink. Most people have lots of drinks they like though, a lot are liked better than the alternative soft drinks. I'd rather have a proper beer than a coke any day.

Ok, but people endanger their health and lives all the time through their own choice. I'm kinda playing devil's advocate here but look at Richard Hammond, how much his desire to drive at silly speeds cost the Emergency Services, ok they got donations back but only in that one case because he's famous, normally that's not the case. Also a huge whack of the NHS income is provided on drink/cigarette taxes, so if you were to say anyone who smokes or drinks isn't entitled to health-care, you'd have to also say the NHS wasn't entitled to that money.

Again, fair enough. I can see how you have arrived at your opinion but I think you'll have a hard time convincing people to share it.

And last of all to Robert: What were you drinking? A friend of mine is usually a really nice guy but recently started acting like an idiot when drunk, he found it was due to what he was drinking, changed his tipple and now he's fine again.

It was purely down to drinking too much. I love a pint, but it was just me going past it. I'm not like this - I usually go to the pub quiz and have about 5/6 pints of carling and I'm happy. Some people seem to think I'm like this all the time, surely I can't be that bad I've only done it twice (once when I was 18 and sunday evening). I don't drink stella artois (well I do)...well I can stand 2/3 pints of it before I call it quits.

Im not actually trying to convince anyone to share my opinion. I just dont see how smoking and drinking are any different. I could guess (and I could be wrong) in saying that some of the people on this forum would say that if someone whom was a smoker had to be rushed off to hospital for a new lung as they have smoked so much in their life and abused their own, that some people would not agree that they should have this opportunity.

If you cant look after what you have, you obviously dont deserve it.

    it's the old adage folks.

Alcohol has been round for aeons and as such it's deemed to be perfectly okay for you and it is within moderation as it does have a few good properties - especially when drinking red wine.

If alcohol was not "discovered" until today then it might have well been banned as it's affects on the body are severe compared to other things.

Let's all just agree to disagree on this one, some people like to go have a drink and socialise whereas some people will not drink period when they go out( no... that's not a spelling mistake for Pernod )

There's no right answer for this question and as such everyone will have a different answer

This post got a little serious! I get drunk all the time, but then so does everyone else I hang out with, so we don't ever annoy each other and we've always got something to talk about. Admittedly I'm assuming it's the same thing every weekend, but because we are so drunk I can't remember.

Worst state I got myself into was on the Eve of my Wedding when my Mate decided that we'd go for a "quiet" drink! ended up getting completey hammered and on the way home she accidently threw me into a street sign...... as well as waking up with a stinking hangover I woke up with huge purple bruises on my legs ( my Wedding outfit was a White Suit with short white skirt and tights ) and I had a massive bump on my forehead
