Wii Pre-orders @ Play.com - BEWARE!

Hi,

I just recieved this email from play.com, for my pre-order placed on 20.10.2006,

Dear Customer,

Due to a European shortage of the Nintendo Wii Consoles, we regret to inform you that Play.com will be unable to supply your pre-ordered Nintendo Wii at launch. As an Official distributor of Nintendo products we are guaranteed more stock before Christmas, but Nintendo have informed us, along with all other official Nintendo retailers, that the console will not be freely available until next year.

All pre-orders will be fulfilled on a first come, first served basis and we will fulfil your order as soon as we can.

If you no longer wish to keep your pre-order with Play.com please login to your account and remove the item from your Outstanding Orders.

I have now cancelled my pre-order with Play and potentially won't be seeing a Wii this Christmas.

I was going to have Play.com ship the Wii unit to a friend who will be handing it over to DHL, where they will charge my Global Account, so that my buddy won't have to pay a penny. Is there anyone here that might be able to get me a Wii unit in time and/or knows of any stores currently accepting pre-orders?

This is gonna be a damper on Chrismas

I got a Gift Card from Game through the post to put money on to for my Wii.

Believe there are reports Amazon have secured the highest amounts of Wii in this country so you will have to see what happens.

I found my local Curry's was brilliant, £20 deposit and I'm fourth on the pre-order list, and i only ordered a couple of days ago, no one seems to think to order there. It was the same with the 360, Curry's had loads on launch day.

try places which arnt as well known. maybe tesco or something? tesco jersey? smaller outlets, maybe google preorder wii

Try a Currys store. I put a preorder down at Game about a month ago, and wasnt guaranteed one for xmas. I work at Currys, and found out we were doing preorders. Now, I'm first on the list, and will definately get one on launch. 10% discount too

Im jsut lost in the whole console war thing I dont know what to get. I would liek a hd drive and as far as i know the Wii doesnt have one. So that leaves me with the Xbox360 and the PS3. Whole thing does my head in

O ordered my wii from play a while ago, haven't heard anything about not getting one so I hope i'll be fine. I'd imagine game will have the largest allocation, aren't they one of nintendo's official retail partners?

Probably, almost definately not.

Dixons Group (Curry's, PC World too) will have i'd think.

As such PC World would be a good bet.

I pre-ordered mine about a month back now at HMV piccadily circus, assuming that they will have a midnight opening Hopefully they will
