Recommend me a digital camera :)

    Hi all,

Since christmas is coming up and i have a nice piggy bank that needs to be smashed (i'm not kidding) i want to get a new camera. My photography is alright, so i was thinking about getting something like the FujiFilm S9500
(250 quid refurb direct from fuji plus about 50 for a small tripod and a CF card), i want to get a decent digital camera that's not an SLR, but not a compact either - the S9500 seems to fit the bill.

    My requirements are:
    - Decent flash, enough for fairly close-up pictures without flooding
    - Good night shots
    - Ability to take Bulb shots (i'm not sure but i think the 9500 can do that)
    - Good battery life (either with 2700 NiMh or supplied battery pack) ~2-3 hours is fine by me, though more would be nice
    - Good resolution and the ability to take good macro pictures - e.g for pc related photography, mobos, etc.
    - Also good resolution when zoomed

Any help would be much appreciated. My budget is around £250 for the camera - accessories such as recording media, etc. are not a priority

    Thanks guys

I got a Kodak P880 recently and have been very impressed with it (found it for about £200). Doesn't have the highest zoom capabilities (5.8x) but the lens is wide angle (24mm) which is great!

Hmm i think i'll go with the fujifilm (thanks for the other options, but i wasn't really looking for that kind of digital compact, nice thought though - my mum could do with something like that).

I'll let you know how it goes

true..true.. though i did consider the one up (G7), but the shutter speed lets it down a bit - and the price

If you haven't ordered yet, I found this site very useful. Good for getting to know the basics of more advanced photography as well, if you're pretty new to it (like me!).

Fuji have their refurb section too for a bargain. They come with 1year warranty direct from Fuji.
