    ok small update.
The system i'm sending the video from is a AMD64x2 5200 using a 100/1000 net card. The receiving system is an AMD 2600 using a 10/100 card.
Both cards are set to 10/100 full duplex.
Both are using Nortons internet security and if i try it with this turned off , no increase in speed. All computer are connected to a Linksys wrt54g which has 4 port 10/100 connections. Windows firewall is turned off because using Nortons.
Even copying the file through Dos, even though a good idea , still produced a 1% speed in the taskmanager.

Any other ideas ? this ones got me a little stumpped . about to try the "reboot" theory.

cheers for now, thanks for the suggestions.

Are you sending the file through the cable or over the wireless?

Im not familiar with this ruoter - but does it light up different colours depending on what speed you connect at? ie orange for 10mbps or green for 100mbps?

And yeah - i reckon a good reboot may help your cause

The file is being sent by the cable , and no the linksys router only has the one colour led, but i've checked the router and it seems ok.

Would it be possible to get the two pc's closer and connect directly with the cables testing each cable individualy?

Not wanting to rian on your parrade but i have been informed on this forum in the past tht linkseys routers are not much good.

All sorted - i had the 100/1000 nic set to 10/100 Full Duplex but once i'd set it to auto it set itself to 10/100 and a test file of 320Mb took just over a min to send. So cheers all for your suggestions.
