Havant read page two... but I think this ban is good.

Also I think the minimum age for drinking in a public place should be 21 or maybe higher. That would probably stop 99% of all the acohol related fights/crime imo and also probably help to reduced the chav population.

I think it's a dumb rule that is way too general. Maybe places should be allowed to make it really clear that 'smoking may occur on these premises'

Nargile/Shisha cafes are gonna be screwed.

Seconded. Plus they burn and last a bit longer.

They do cost a bit though.

I think this ban is fantastic, i agree with a lot of what's been said here - and while i don't smoke, myself, all you good chaps who are giving up could save around £5-10k a year i believe

Not being funny but not sure where you got that equation from... to save £5k a year by not smoking you would have to smoke around 55 cigs a day, 10k saving means then around 110 per day*

I do personally smoke however only smoke around 10 - 15 cigs per day, havent been to a pub in the last 20 months or so therefore the ban wont really effect me

*based on an average of £5 per pack

Nooo, your missing the point here chap..
If less people smoke the government will HAVE to get the money they make on ciggy tax from elsewhere so we all end up paying for other people to quit smoking.
I say drink, smoke, be overweight, at least that way you get your money's worth out of the government, if your fit, dont drink, dont smoke and work you get your arse taxed off and probably wont use the NHS when you dont have a heart attack so your paying for what?
Drinkers, smokers, benifit fraud, immigrants and feck knows what else?!?!?!?

I would much rather we had a poorer country than people dying of smoking related diseases.

IMHO its not a case of living in a poorer country, its paying taxes on things that dont benifit the country directly...
People are leaving the country in boat loads, things should be tightened down a hell of a lot.
Make me PM for a few years and I'll get the job done and be honest about it to boot...

What? I can't believe you said that! I have treated many people with smoking related diseases, including 6 months in a hospice. I would much rather see less money in the governments coffers than someone dying of lung or throat cancer. I am, after all, human.

Lol there was a huge sign in town a while ago that said something to that effect (obviously if you only smoke 10 or 15 a day then it'll be a lot less).

Hah ok i just realised how bad the maths was there, but it's still a lot of money..
