I remember the days when you could read your post whilst you ate your breakfast. They're long gone though, it seems. My post tends to arrive between 11am-1pm.. which is REALLY handy when you're out of the house and a recorded delivery comes.

    My eyes doth roll.

    exactly the same up here.

we used to get two deliveries, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, now the postman comes at around half past 10, leaves numerous red rubber bands lying about the street, and believes that i have 12 different surnames. (block of flats round the corner called northland gardens NOT northland drive grrr!)

I used to love getting up in the morning and seeing the amount of post on the door step

Now I'm lucky if I get any post, with it getting lost, missed deliverd or just coming late

With the (continued) onslaught of emails and the Interweb, the Post Office really started struggling - they've just about got things under control now, but this is just one of the things where cut-backs have been made.

It's our generation to blame, so you can't really complain

Apparently, the reason the IOM post office gave us the other day for our post rolling up at 3 or 4 in the afternoon was that "There's an awful lot of it, and it has to be sorted twice..."

    "What? Twice?" I reply...

"yeah... it comes in from the airport" (which is down our way anyway) "then it goes up to the main sorting office in Douglas, where it's sorted into north, middle and south. Then the south post goes down to the sorting office at Ballasalla" (You can see this building from the tarmac at the airport btw) "where it's sorted and then delivered. Add to that the fact that the round you're on is huge, it's no wonder it takes all day to get there"

    "Oh, thanks..."

    /puts phone down

Bearing in mind that I can do a complete lap of my town, with 2 excitable hounds in just under an hour, and the mail comes in at 0600, takes 20 minutes to get to Douglas, maybe an hour to sort roughly, 20 minutes back, and 20 minutes to sort down here... should get it at the latest at about 9... muppets.
