Tag Heuer Carrera Twin Time...any thoughts?

Hi all,

I've got this booked and am going to take a closer look on Monday. This has a sapphire back (let's you see the mechanics), automatic of course, croc leather, and allows for a second 'zone' (hence the little red arrow.









Cost isn't a problem, just wondering if anyone else has one here and have you had any issues with this model?

ibm - I'm getting rid of some old ones, and sorta 'redoing' the collection, hence thinking of picking this up.

Stewart, this isn't gold - stainless steel mate I posted this here cause I read that some people have had issues with the mechanics of this carrera, but then again it could be they were referring to the older model (which didn't have the open back, but rather a sealed back).

I've got my eye on a beauty, but I really can't justify it without spending my PS3 money and another decent wedge on top.

It will make me more attractive to the opposite sex by a factor of 7 though... choices, choices!

Awww, I know the feeling but I saw a PS3 in action sometime before Christmas, and tbh it didn't look 'all that stunning' compared to what I've seen on the 360.

Sure, there might be a few titles it is worth for but meh tbh. Only game I'm looking forward to is MGS4, and I hear it might go 360 as well - one can hope!

Very nice looking watch indeed there mike, how much are we talking? I just bought myself my xmas pressie, a 2407FPW but it's my brithday next month I've not bought a watch for 8 years now last one was when I was 21, that was also a Tag, no idea which model tho. A new watch could be in order.

Exactly, it was my Birthday yesterday and hence why I'm thinking of 'yet' another watch, and do fancy something with a leather strap. That said, Stewart does have a point, as I have picked up *cough* three since October...

I first liked the CV2113.FC6180, but on closer inspection (via many online photos) noticed that the sapphire glass 'protrudes' out of the bezel, giving it a slightly tacky look - as seen in many Swatch watches.

..So I think I'll be going with this, unless I'm swayed by the Brad Pitt, model(s) but I highly doubt it - besides the GMT function will deffo come in handy. Oh, this'll be my first Tag btw

Cost wise, it is much much cheaper compared to my Seamaster, ~900quid, with 2 year intl. warranty. Of course, I'm gonna be pedantic and tell 'em that if I find it loosing time against my Seamaster in 2 weeks - I'm bringing it back!

The Carrera range is nice, was gonna get one last summer but decided on an Aquaracer in the end, due to the Carrera that I liked was a bit thick for my liking and didn't really fit my wrist. I prefer stainless steel, link straps to leather, just a personal opinion, but I think they look nicer aswell. Tags are nice, and the one you've chosen will be a keeper aswell, the designll be timeless. Enjoy!

I intensely dislike true automatic watches. Why waste all that money on expert engineering when something cheaper is more accurate?

I doubt you can say that of all automatics considering that many do get the chronometer (COSC) certification? (that doesn't apply to this Tag however).

I'm surprised there isn't a watch specialist forum your a member of mike, that may be a better place to ask as these are quiet specific items.

I have often wondered why people like to say ..look what i am getting, is it bragging?,showing off? Why do we need to know what sort of watch you are getting?

Ikonia, I am of TimeZone. Sadly their forums aren't as nice as Hexus (software wise) and is a bit tedious at times...

kickstart: I guess I've been misunderstood. I figured, with Hexus having a 20k member base that some one else *might* have this watch. The reason is that I've read @ TimeZone, that some people have experienced mechanical issues, while some have not had any problems.

Also I've not got this, and may or may not get it...

Kalniel, also on the topic of automatic accuracy, the COSC certification is only awarded after testing for ~15 days at 3 temperatures and varying angles (thus the effect of gravity) while ensuring accuracy to ~±0.05s etc (wikipedia has a better description) and if automatics did suffer from 'time loss' I doubt any would be awarded this certification...
