Anyone know where "London North West Depot" is?

Hi I wonder if someone could help me with this, I recently bought a portable electronic dictionary from Japan but according to the tracking status, looks like it's been held at one of the delivery depot for custom reason. I don't mind paying custom charges at all but the thing is I have never contacted or recieved any notice from the post office regarding this item and the charges therefore I have no idea how or where I should contact now and the strange thing is that status now showing they are "Awaiting payment of charges" without even informing me about it. WTF So what should I do? It seems it's been held at London North West Depot but where is this place located and who should I contact first? Can I just drive into that place and pay the charge and pick the thing up? Also does anyone have rough idea how much the charges will be, the dictionary itself is about 18000yen which is about 80quid. Thanks for your assistance.

I suggest that you ask the supplier for full details on delivery. Which company did they used for the deliver and their website address and the tracking number. Once you get the information you can check. Hope this helps.

Normally the delivery company will pay the charges, and then hold it at a local depot where you can pick it up and pay.

It could be being held at a customs depot and then will be forwarded to a delivery company depot.

Once it's gone to this depot you will be sent a letter by the delivery company. Charges for that could be about £25, including the delivery companies processing charge, though this can really vary quite a bit.

Royal mail will sometime send you a letter via their own service to tell you to pay the fee, all depends how valuable the item was, worth calling royal mail maybe?

if its royal mail, i'd imagine the north west london mail depo is in kilburn.

Its just next too the bakerloo line station, north towards the jube.

However i'd just ring fed ex and ask!

Thanks guys, appreciate all you helpIt's coming through Japanese recorded mail delivery service called ECS but I guess royal mail took over once the item reached UK. According to tracking status provided by royal mail my dictionary seem to have reached at London North West Depot on 17th, but status havn't changed from "London North West Depot Awaiting payment of charges" for 6days now so looks like they are waiting for my payment, but I haven't recieved any calls or letters stating I need to pay for the custom which is wierd Is this normal and what is the best thing to do now? Retailer I used is located in Japan and they are not so keen on helping me out anymore. They said it's out of thier hands now and I have to sort things out myself.

Just pop down to your local branch and ask them for advice, they'll probably direct you to the depot. I imagine if you bring along some ID and proof of address, you should be able to find out if anything has been attempted delivery.

(maybe take the tracking number along as well, might help)

you should be able to get it taken too your local branch, they might charge 50p more for it, but its cheaper than the bus!

Hmm, things are not looking well I have contacted Royal Mail customer support and this is the reply I've got. So what exactly is "postal administration" this guy's talking about?
    ------------------------------------------------------
    Good afternoon

Thank you for your recent e-mail about an item you are expecting from
    overseas.

I would like to explain that under the Universal Postal Agreement, any
enquiries regarding your item have to be initiated in the country of
origin. May I therefore suggest that you contact the senders and ask them
to provide their postal administration with the posting details. This will
enable an investigation to be made from the point of posting.

Thank you for your e-mail and if we can be of any more help, please contact
    us again.

    Regards

    Jamie Hopper
    Customer Service Advisor
