I honestly do NOT believe that the food sucks!

We have such a diverse selection of food, and compared to the Americans we win hands down.

The difference I find is I like to taste the food.
In my wife's family home I sat down and had pasta and salad. I kid you not there were 12 bottles of sauce for the salad. DIFFERENT ONES. WTF?! I have salad cream and mayo in my fridge.

But seriously, between tradition English - which is amazing if done right, watch my American wife's eyes light up when she sees my Mom's Sunday roast, and the other selection we have it all.

Wordsley - where I live, (a tiny no-where village) has:
    English
    Indian
    Italian
    Mongolian!!!!
    Chinese and Cantonese restaurants.

That’s in the tiniest village I know.

    Around my wife’s house?
Wendys (Burger place). Burger King. Mc Donalds. Subway. Quiznos (another sub shop) and a diner.

Who are they to slate our food?!

Disgusting. They cost just 61p per taxpayer per year.
2 mars bars. (Close enough 1 nowerdays!)

How much does Blair and Co cost you.
The Royal family is one of the few things that make me unbelievably proud of being British.

    God save the Queen.

    Whats great about britain..........

    hmmm

Unions - great at squeezing every single last penny out of us for our train fairs then deciding to have a 1 week strike because they didnt provide their staff with the superior andrex bog roll.

Benefits - amazing benefits but trying to actually be one of the recipients is i hear pretty hard........still remember that unemployed family on wife swap getting 48k.

Island - its great living on an island and not being mashed in with the french/germans

Education - no developed country on earth can match our little kids for producing kids........well done you under 14s. Who says we cant catch the chinese.

Agreed! And agreed about the food thing too. Not only because we have lots of vege food, but also, we have Indian, and I couldn't live without Indian food

It's the quality of food rather than the selection or "diversity" - you really think you're getting authentic cuisine half the time you find a Chinese restaurant?

    Food is subjective I guess.

Nothing to do with cost of them and I understand that they bring money in via tourism. I just dislike what they stand for. I would far rather be a republic than have them around. They are outdated and (apart from tourism) not of any significant use anymore.

    Treason.

I'd prefer to be run by the Royal family tbh.
We'd get the same amount of say in what goes on as we do now.

I'd hate to be a boring, faceless republic, and love the fact that I live in a Country rich in tradition, history and intrest.

I'd do everything in my power to keep our royal family.

What would you do before a football match? Sing

"Whatever higher power one chooses to believe in, if any, save the Republic of the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Northern Ireland"

    Rhubarb.

    Rhubarb.
I don't watch football and in Rugby they hardly ever sing about the queen as it is the British national anthem. I am not disagreeing with your opinion, as my opinion sees the Royals as old fuddy duddys and incredibly boring! And this is coming from someone who loves history.

I will admit to being the least patriotic person in the country though. I normally can't wait till we are knocked out of the football world cup as people then shut up about it. Love rugby though!

That got me rather intrigued, going by some basic figures we have a gdp per landmass ratio of almost twice theirs. Though of course that isn't exactly power.

Anyways as far as i'm concerned, the scenery's good, the sport's pretty decent, the weather isn't all that bad really, the infrastructure may be aging but is still good however much you moan. I don't see too many problems with Britain at all. Oh and to those who moan about Labour, they're basically the reason we have such a strong economy and we've become spoilt by that. And the NHS is FREE, it needs work, but it does a pretty decent job despite the horror stories as far as i'm concerned.

not really also Israel has an excellent armed forces (although when mobilised for more than a month their economy goes to pot) and plenty of nukes and have congress tied up, Israel has very little respect and influence around the world

Britain has both in spades (although far less than we did 5 years ago...) - however this is one thing the Royal Family do well for us is the international relations thing
