Well IMHO they have different brain wiring, yes. Whether that's been forced to be the case through damage to the 'normal' wiring or not I don't know. Maybe it's the next evolutionary state
EDIT: note the concept of brain wiring is a deliberately abstract one - I don't neccessarily mean physical connections

Everyones brain is wired up differently, just cos ur brain doesnt work the same as the guy next to you doesnt mean much tbh, some people are lefties, some can roll there tongue, its all genetics, if we have to label it then thats fine, however the number of labels we have these days is down to political correctness in a big way.
One of the great abilities of the human race is its ability to adapt, if you label someone and then treat them differently then they dont have to adapt, this, IMHO creates lazyness in one form or another...

Being blind is a real disability, not being able to read isn't.
Then again we could get into the survival of the fittest thing and then blind people wouldnt live very long anyways, nor would these people that have "gland" issues that makes them too fat to do anything, but thats a different issue eh
Not being able to read due to a neurological dysfunction IS a disability; it's also worth noting that it can be associated with other cognitive, motor and perceptual problems. As to its not being a disability, exactly how well would you be able to function in our society if you were incapable of reading? We wouldn't be having this discussion for a start, would we? Could you do your own job? Could you manage your finances? Fill out a mortgage application?
