How the hell do i remove theses? Doing my bloody nut in

It'll be something like "view -> hide non printing characters" or the like. (maybe "hide whitespace characters")

I assume this is Microsoft Word?

Ctrl + Shift + *

Tools ---> Options --> View (tabbed bit)

Untick all of the "Formatting Marks" in the middle of the page.

The character highlighted second in your pic is usually found as a shortcut button on your formatting bar(near to page width etc).

The characters are pretty useful once you start putting embedded pics or diagrams in word.
