AMD + ATI = better?

I am pretty sure that at one stage nVidia were saying that using a geforce graphics card with a nforce board would give better performance as the drivers were designed to work together, though this may have been in the nForce 2 era

it will be a while yet before i am ready to use any ATI (AMD) chipset. although it may happen that in future an AMD cpu will run best on an AMD (ATI) chipset.

Yes, I remember that time and I know 3 people who all sold their nVidia cards on to buy ATI at the time because the nVidia drivers would not load on rebooting with both a nVidia chipset and gfx card.

IIRC, at the time the chipset and gfx drivers were in the same package.
