Yeah I think DX9 market is still too big to be ignored because many people are still holding onto thier XPs.

Of course an 8800GTS is faster than any 1950 pro, but it's also twice as expensive
No its not....jeeeeeez. Its about £30-40 more. <---Factual
My god, you are a d!ck. Why can't you just keep your posts polite like everyone else on these boards, instead of constantly making offensive comments at people?

    Between an x1950pro and 8800GTS?

    There's £68.16 between an X1950XT (with accelero)
(can be £79 difference if you're willing to put up with the sapphire "fan")(scan) and the cheapest 8800 i can find that's in stock. (also at scan)

I was wrong on the price.....i admit

    8800GTS for £184 Ebuyer
El Cheapo X1950XT for around £105-£110 everywhere.

OP did say up to £200 though so well within budget.

Nothing wrong with saving on the budget the performance as you can see from the review you posted earlier, the 1950XT is much better value for money!

The thing is, those benchmarks were orientated in quality/playble framerates, in all tests the benchmarks show that the X1950XT can only deal with minimal quality settings at high res where the 8800GTS was barging through them all with max settings.

If you want to play without MAX settings and no AA or AF then i agree.
To be fair though, if you want to play with lowish settings, then why spend £100+ on a card in the first place. Just get a 7600GT and have done with it.

Read through your posts and read through some of mine.... that is the only offensive statement I have ever made on these boards, whereas for you it's a matter of course to make yourself feel important and (in your own mind) look good. Grow up.

Ignore him. You're not the only one that thinks he's a prick and he's not worth the effort.

I don't want max settings... I want to play smoothly @ 1680x1050 which is the native resolution of most if not all 22" screens. X1950XT will do that much better than a 7600GT - the X1950XT seems to slot in perfectly for the perfomance requirement at the best price, don't you agree?

I have to disagree with you there. My 2900xt does 8xAA and 16xAF and everything else at max at 1680*1050 quite happily on all Source games. This is paired with an e4300 at 2.66ghz.

Edit: oh, and because I don't have the 8-pin power thing yet (HX620 ) the core is running at 507mhz, memory at 514. So only running at 75%.
