Low-profile card with dual monitor support?

Hi folks, my main machine died so I'm replacing it with a Dell C521.

The only thing is that I currently run a dual-monitor setup, and the new machine only takes low-profile PCI-E graphics cards.

Any recommendations for the best way to deal with this? Are there any cards that offer this, or can I use one with the onboard GFX at the same time to support two monitors?

Looking for your knowledge and help here... I'd probably prefer to stick with nVidia, but open to suggestions!

I think with PCI-E you can use the onboard video as well.

If you have 2 slots spare then XFX do an exciting dual low profile bracket that should work with a few low porfile cards.

any card like that would work with jimbo's back plate.

some new machines (hp 5150 based on amd chipsets) come with vga and DVI outputs with would soolve your problem with no add in cards

You can run an advanced search on scan. Just go through the options in the graphics card section and select low profile. It'll show you all the ones applicable to you in this case.

Just what I was looking for (also have a c521). Anyone know if this kit comes with a tool to remove the original bracket from my low-profile card (Geforce 6200), or if not what kind of tool I need (apols for being such a tool ).

If you have a small pair of pliers to remove the hexagonal bits from around the monitor connectors and maybe a screw-driver if the backplate is screwed on. Nothing special needed normally.

Ideally a hex socket driver, but I think you can probably get away with a pair of pliers - looking at the installation guide.

XFX cards and bracket are on Today Only at Scan, my order is going in now!

Oh no! Hope price doesn't increase on the bracket too much by the time I qualify for free delivery from Scan. Only need the bracket for now so hardly worth paying the £5.99 (!) carriage on it... Thanks again.

It's only about 80p less, and you'd have to make the order up to £20 ex VAT anyway to qualify for free delivery. Possibly try calling them and see if they can post it rather than using a courier?

Worth a call I suppose. Cheers.
