New lineup will go something like:

    8800 Ultra 768MiB - 128 stream processors, dual slot solution. - Unchanged.
    8800 GTX 768MiB - 128 stream processors, dual slot solution. - Unchanged.
8800 GTS 640MiB - 112 stream processors, dual slot solution. - Increased stream processors, same price as current 640MiB GTS?
    8800 GT 512MiB & 256MiB - 96 stream processors [i think] (600MHz core/1800MHz memory), single slot solution (65nm). - New product, same price as current 320MiB GTS?

    Discontinued:
    8800 GTS 320MiB
Anyone have an idea about how the pricing will go?

As to the original question, if you must absolutely buy now, i'd go for the 2900Pro if you're going to overclock, 8800GTS 320MiB if not. If you don't have to buy right now, wait and get a 8800GT 512MiB; or the improved GTS if your wallet can stretch that far.
    Just noticed the Fudzilla links.
You're safer just making up the card details than trusting Fudzilla.

You might want to check this DirectX 10 card comparison. But be warned, the only clear thing is the performance of the 8800GTX and Ultra, about which they say,

While their performance lead over the Radeon 2900 XT and the Geforce 8800 GTS was not as pronounced under Windows XP/DirectX 9, they offer between 50 and 100 percent more performance than these cards under Vista/DirectX 10.

The question of best value card remains fuzzy
Check GamesTracker for game prices. It's always my first stop.

Yeah - its still up in the air - and its clear that its going to cost a fortune to get a grea DX10 experience. However, its not as if the DX9 games such as Bioshock and UT3 (just played the beta) are ugly lame experience. They still look really great and imprtantly, can be used with mid-range, affordable hardware. I was worried about the gap, but I'm going to be content with the DX9 offerings until the next generation of cards can actually handle DX10

    QTF tbh.

Personally i'd go for the 88gts, but i'm a bit of an nvidia fanboy, and have had nothing but bad experiences with ATI (except for a 9600XT, which was awesome... and still is )
