    Broken Graphics Card - Advice

My Ati X1800256 Has just given up the ghost- has been running hard for 18 months so I guess I should not be TOO dissapointed. However it brings me to a choice I would have probably not been making for another 4-6 months.

I run at 1920 x 1200 on my 2405, and play mainly WoW, however I would like to be able to run modern games esp CRYSIS.

Will my 4600X2 and 2GB of 2700ddr be up to the latest games and I guess Withthout spending fortunes I should look at the very 'now' 8800GT. I'm happy to buy a £175 card now and upgrade in 6-9 months whilst still getting a sensible amount back for the GT.

ATM im running a 4600Ti128 - was quite suprised it manages 1920 resolution!!

Your thoughts and input are appreciated !!

    Hehe @ the 4600TI

At 1920x1200 I guess the X2 wouldn't be the bottleneck, especially as Crysis uses 2 cores. It certainly wouldn't be worth it to upgrade the rest of the system at the same time in my opinion.

Cool, thnx for that, at least I don't feel I NEED to change the rest of the system just yet.

Now with regards to the graphics card - is it true that the 8800GT is going to give me - almost
as much performance as a 8800GTX at 1920x1200 - I can afford to hold off till January as I am away for a couple of weeks and then xmas etc etc - and have my lappie and trusty Ti to keep me going!

Any chance that 8800GTX/Ultra will have a price tumble in that time???

Re: Broken Graphics Card - Advice

It's not quite up there with the 8800GTX, but 15-5fps behind at 1920x1200. The 8800GTS SSC I guess will be very close to it though, if you can wait until early next month (assuming they release sufficient stock this time....).
