There is a 3.5mm jack on the back of the monitor that is labelled as hdmi audio out so I'd imagine you'll be fine with your plan.

Re: Who else is waiting for the Dell 2408WFP?

Is the monitor being mentioned in this thread the Dell 2408WFP-HC Ultrasharp?

i.e. this one: Computer hardware and software at amazing prices, available online from Scan Computers UK

If so, is this generally considered to be the best 24" monitor at the moment? The reason I ask is that I'm looking to upgrade ym old 19" monitor and need one that provides exceptional picture quality.

Re: Who else is waiting for the Dell 2408WFP?

Yes, that's the one, but the Benq FP241WZ is widely thought of as the best 24" all-rounder.

I like the 2408WFP-HC, but all suffer from rather severe input lag (compared to the 2407 and 2405), and mine has some (rather mild) back-light bleed from the top-left and top-right corners. If it was my own money I'd probably buy the Benq next time - the Dell's got it licked for connections though, and Dell's returns have been really good for the high-end monitors in the past, which was enough to sway it for me - I just took the safe option.

Re: Who else is waiting for the Dell 2408WFP?

I'm currently used to working on S-IPS screens... can anyone tell me why there are no 24" S-IPS screens available anywhere in the UK? I would prefer a 24" equivalent of the Dell 30" 3008WFP screen - all the goodies that are on the 2408, but using a S-IPS panel instead of a S-PVA.

I've not really used a S-PVA panel before, so I'm unwilling to spend £450 on one without direct experience of how good they are. What are peoples opinons on the difference between the two types? Seems to me that S-IPS is an all-round better technology to me, and I can't believe it's that much more expensive.

Oh, and here is a pretty interesting review from a guy off hardforum:

I think you mean the Benq FP241W - without the Z. The Benq FP241WZ had that nasty black frame insertion "technology". The Benq FP241W is exactly the same but without it, I think.

It's a good couple of years old that model now... it certainly does still look good though. Surprised that Benq haven't done an update yet.
