Single thread the i7 STILL makes the core 2 series look slow. You should be getting yourself one of those new Extreme I7s that reach 5ghz on air then? And for quite a bit less money (and size) I am going to be nipping at your system's heels.

Im just glad that a pair of them are still slower than the 4890 I just bought
Superb card (4770) for the money and the performance is storming, I cant wait to see one volt modded and overclocked under water cooling
There's a little bit of performance to be had from going quad with one card. A LOT to be had with two, my Q9550 flattened my Q6600 in games performance once I went crossfire. Also, the E8xxx chips are fast, but in most tests clock for a clock an i7 is going to outpace one by at least 25% if not more (Per thread)
Well I ran 06 with my two cards at stock and my i7 at the setting in my system profile.
pretty much 20k on the nose:

Am downloading the RC of win 7 atm because this version seems to refuse to run vantage atm
That's not bad at all if you're using Vista. A 4Ghz Q9550 with a 4870X2 (Granted, the 9550 isn't as fast as your i7) is looking at about 22k.
cant OC both cards atm, but crossfire I get a GPU score of 11845. Single card ocing gains me 27.1% (both cards go from 750/800 to 900/1075) which would give me a score of 14798.
To give you an idea a stock clocked crossfire HD 4870 1gb set scores 14948.
1% difference.
That's incredible, nice work! I'm amazed the 4770 clocks that well, it begs the question why they didn't set the clock speeds higher in the first place. Assuming you haven't tampered with the voltages, you've basically got 4870s that cost almost exactly half as much, and use almost exactly half as much power...
This is my 4890 OC
16741 stock clocks
Yeah but this is in vantage. My two cards stock with an i7 at 3.8ghz get 20k in vista.
Not bad, with a Phenom II I think you've hit a CPU limit there. I'm willing to bet if you gave that CPU more mhz or weren't using an AMD you could push the 4890 further.
Heh, be careful with that. You'd be the only person I know not to destroy a graphics card by doing that, and I know a lot of people that have tried!
Current results (single card):
960/1075
Core voltage: 1.175v (flashed asus TOP bios with software voltage control + extended CCC clocks)
3dmark vantage GPU score: 8614

Can't change the voltage when in crossfire so 875/1100 clocks it is.
