I also keep an eye on releases so that I can pick up a card that was £200 on release when they are being sold off cheap due to a new card coming out, so now the price is in my range.
This is what I do too when looking for a new graphics card!!

its gonna be £50-£150 for me. As long as the graphics card outperforms my ps3 then it will do for me i suppose.

£150 - £200, but I did recently purchase a 5870 regardless of the price as I wanted to get my new rig up & running for Mass Effect 2 & Alien vs Predator, couldn't be bothered to wait for nvidia's new graphics card either.

    £150 - £200, although I've had a few over £200, £150-£200 seems most popular.

Re: How much do you usually spend on your gaming graphics card??

I've spent roughly £130 on a 6600GT, and about £135 for a 7900GS, had to replace the 6600GT after it died (was in my dads PC) with a cheapo £40 card, so my average is around just over £100. I'll be getting a much more powerful card for my next full build though, looking at the £150 - £200 range for that, although if needed I'd consider spending up to £220. If I can get a 5850 under £200 later in the year I'll probably get that, unless by some miracle the 5870 is that cheap, then I'd get that.

I spent ~£300 on my X800XT then moved to 7900GTX (forgotten how much now); stopped playing games, but currently undecided between the 5850 or 5870.

although i do tend to use it untill it breaks, also to try and run things that it wasnt suposed to run let alone heard of, and run things that bring computers to thier knees even now.

how else would i have found out that crysis runs at 15 fps, in low details, on an ATI Radeon 9600 from 2003 thats what killed/melted my previous computer by the way. So there are a few drawbacks to running very old computers on modern games.
I use mine till it really needs upgrading or i have surplus cash .

    I had the following:

    AMD 3000+ Barton
    1.5gb Ram DDR3200 (random sticks!)
    Radeon 9600XT

Now this was probably bought in like 2004 from my dads friend (he had a huge insurance claim and got all new pc's etc :L) And did a whole overhal just after crysis came out and spent £180 on an 8800GTS g92 (wishes he didnt but still). Previous system had an AMD 2400 and a radeon 9500 (was given to friend after) but the upgrade was really cheap so yeh it lasted me ages!.

Now im planning to upgrade just for aliens vs predator, sad but i want DX11 .

Voted £200-£300 though in reality i probably wouldn't go above £250 unless that extra £50 got me a big increase in performance.

cant remember what i voted for but my history was

    9800pro
    9800pro (first one was dodgy)
    8600gt 512mb
    HD4870 512mb

    so £20,free,70,200

i think if i was going to get something new right now i be about £100ish possibly, £150ish if its worth it

but whats better in performace per £1 than a HD4870 right now? its like £60 and meets if not exeeds all gaming needs for today

Re: How much do you usually spend on your gaming graphics card??

Well, it used to be around the £200 mark, but what with having a console now, and with the fact that the outgoing generation of GPU are getting less and less obsolete each cycle, I wouldnt want to spend more than £150.

Mind you, this would be less is I didnt have a 24" monitor, as I only really like to run it at native. If I had a 22" then the £100 would prob be fine to find something nowadays.

Same here. I'll be looking closely at prices and availability in the Summer. I'm hoping for a 5870 around the £150-200 mark. I can't see Fermi coming in that price bracket until Q4 2010.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.
