By the sounds of things, AMD already have a couple of tricks "up their sleeves" to play once Fermi releases anyway.

And lets not forget which of the 2 companies it was that caused a noticeable drop in GPU prices.....do not expect nVidia to drive them down further!

Same boat here. I'm toying with a 5870 Vapor-X, but I just know the price will tumble massively the moment I order it and at £330 it's a LOT of cash. The 5850 would be tempting at £200 but not really available at that price yet, not to mention I like the idea of a quieter cooling solution with the Vapor-X (the second revision is quieter and shorter than the original card tested on Hexus apparently). Oh yeah, I'm also running out of patience with waiting for Fermi.

I heard a 5830 is on the way, it might end up a nice card if they don't kill off too many shader cores, and stick some better memory on it...

In the same boat here, and have a redundancy cheque coming. Can you point out any tests that show the VaporX is any quieter in the 2nd generation ?
