Assuming vmods and decent watercooling (not TEC) the max is ~450 for a 9700 becuase of the boards design. The gpu is almost the same as the 9800pro which can easly get a lot higher (some have goto 700mhz core!) but the other parts limit it.

Dont pay that much for one (unless you want mine, which clocks very well ) instead get a 9800pro for less money.

You can buy an artic cooling vga silencer for £15 so the extra £50 is way over the top.

That 'good cooling' (Arctic Cooling VGA) can be picked up for around £10 (for example, from Scan), and aren't too hard to put on as far as I can tell, not that I've actually ever done it!!!

No contest, R9700P and i wouldn't expect anyone who's being realistic to expect anything more than £75 inc. RMSD when selling one, second hand.

hmm prob not on max settings, i think you might start to see it struggle later this year when doom3 comes out.

shame u cant get a 9800pro. your getting a lot of card for ur money at current prices with one of those.

you'll most likely be able to run FarCry at 800x600 or even 1024x768 at max settings, anything above though i'd imagine frame rates would become an issue.

    Hi MurphmanL,

I would go with the 9700pro personally. I have a 9700 non pro (see sig) with an Arctic Coller on, and I have upped my core from 275 to 360 without a glitch........memory is a different matter tho, I have Samsng 2.8ns chips but cant push it past 309 without artifacts ?!?!
But even @ stock, this card plays EVERY game I have (UT2k4, Farcry, Call Of Duty, Need For Speed etc) with evrything pushed to MAX.....enjoy mate.

I ran farcry at 1024x768 medium setttings and medium AA on a 9600xt at decent frames so it wont be a problem on a 9700pro- dependant on the rest of the specs of course

Mate, why not ask kindly one of the kind fellas at Hexus to get the card form an online store for you (i would hope someone would help him out) if its not possible to get yourself?
they all SEEM trustworthy and you wont get ripped off buying a card that is far overpriced AND secondhand!
