    Re: Wireless Touch Screen Monitor

Thanks for the mini review. Think I'll have a look at one of them when I can get the money to afford one!

You're welcome. You're right they are expensive, especially now you can buy netbooks for ~£200. In fact, some netbooks come with touch screens, now, so that may be a more economical way of owning a touch device.

Edit: I need to update "T2" in my signature...

    Re: Wireless Touch Screen Monitor

I think personally I'd hold off buying any touchscreen device for at least 6 months, given that this year should be the year of the tablet / slate. As well as the iPad, and Android based options, we should start seeing Chrome OS and Windows devices later in the year. If nothing else, the presence of competition in the market place should hopefully bring prices down, even if you do end up going for a traditional swivel-screen tablet...

p.s. Baius - reading back I'm not sure you fully understood my comment. I didn't control another computer from my laptop - I controlled my laptop from my mobile phone!

The laptop full res is 720p (1280 x 768, in fact) and the phone is 480x320. androidVNC, which is a free android VNC viewer, uses a 1:1 zoom and a pan & click navigation system, making using an Android phone as a VNC remote control really simple...

You're right, I didn't understand; despite you saying it earlier in the thread. I've st'd my reply, in recognition.

I think I replied to MyCarsAVW by saying I'm not keen to use a small device, IE a Joggler or phone. That's just me, though.

I don't like the idea of panning around. I'd rather use an interpolated resolution - even that gets silly, however, when the resolution change is too great. Digressing slightly, I tried to play Command and Conquer Generals once at 1600x1200 on my 1280x720 (native) projector, and it didn't really work very well.

Fair enough. I think androidVNC will do interpolated res as well, but I understand your concern about the screen size - don't know how well it would work for you.

Perhaps you should save up for a slate when they start coming out - there's rumours of some Android ones in the 5" - 7" area...

I have an OQO 01+, but the turd of a device won't even turn on... No wonder they went out of business.

When it worked it was quite cool, though. That was a 5" sporting WVGA.

5" is definitely the minimum for such a device. Might look into some 7" devices when they come out. If they're under £199 (and no contract), I might "invest".
