Whats the power/heat/sound like with a 6850 in that shuttle of yours ?
Also i thought the 460's had a lower power need over the 6850's ?
I have an HD5850 1GB and it runs fine in my SD37P2 although I have the CPU fans reversed and running at constant speed and the HD5850 fan running at a constant speed tooas an exhaust.
On the normal fan speed the HD5850 1GB is not too noisy although under load it is noisier.
What gave you the idea that a GTX460 consumes more power than an HD6850?? The HD6850 1GB needs only a single PCI-E power connector and there is even a bus power version too!! The GTX460 needs a pair of PCI-E power connectors.
Ther Fermi based GTX00 series cards are not that power efficient. The HD5000 and HD6000 series are some of most energy efficient gaming cards made in the last few years.
Even at HD5850 1GB consumes less power at load than a GTX460:

hiya people
I think I caused confusion..
it DOES NOT need to be single slot... his current card IS single slot and it's noisy.. but it's not a small case. it just happens to be a single slot card :-( by bad description..sorry
So dual slot is fine

You can get the HD6850 1GB for under £120 now:

Re-read what i said, i said don't the 460''s have a LOWER power need over the 6850's.... Lower power to me = lower heat output but if thats not the case then fair enough.
Has for my shuttle i have the fans pulling in from the left and out on the right hand side but i would like to try and improve this has the heat pipe on the southbridge gets bloody scorching :s
Current plans for upgrade to this shuttle are a 60gig ssd for the boot drive, 2tb hdd for my data and swap the gfx out from my current 4850.
None of the new core based shuttles have taken my fancy sadly so i think this will be my last before i go back to building my own rig.
The GTX460 has a higher power need over an HD6850 and this is why I avoided one for my SD37P2. The GTX460 does have a larger die meaning the heat generated by the GPU is dissipated over a larger surface area meaning it may appear cooler running than an HD6850. However, the total heat dumped into the case is much higher. The only GTX460 cards I could find with a rear venting cooler tend to consume around the same or even more power than an HD5850 1GB. The HD5850 1GB tends to be a faster card so I bought one of them instead.
I replaced the heatsink on my SD37P2 with an aftermarket one.
This thread would be also useful for you to check:

The SX38P2 in the thread has aftermarket heatsinks.
It is a shame that Shuttle don't sell the H7 case and PSU separately especially since their latest cases can use mini-ITX motherboards too.
I probably will be getting a Q08 at some point. The SG08 looks OK but the Q08 seems to have a better finish.
Thats some smart heatsinks =) any idea what the bloody hell they are ?
This is the blue cooler:

This cooler has also been used by some people on their Shuttle SFF PCs:

Personally I think a GTS 450 is a good contender. Just as good a 5770 and also great value now with prices going for as low as £80-85 on scan today only offers.
