    Which gfx card for server

I'm looking for a gfx card for my HP Proliant ML 110 G6 server.
    Any recomendations would be welcome.

It does have a PCI E 16x slot, so I'm assuming "any" pci-e should work/be compatible, but would idearly like to hear from anyone with any experience with using one in a server, even better from one using said server.

    TIA

Re: Which gfx card for server

What do you want to do with your server that the built in graphics can't? As you rightly say since it's a standard x16 slot you could stick any grpahics card in there, so what you actually intend to use it for will define which is the best option...

Re: Which gfx card for server

I have Sage installed and want to see more on a larger screen. And at the mo its stuck on vga 800x600 on a 24" monitor, not ideal (HP havn't helped with any particular remedy so far). I could go on, but thats beside the point, I just want/need to know, from peoples experiences, what gfx cards are ideal for this particular server?

Or am I expecting too much, lol.

this looks like a driver issue as the link above states it can do 1600 x 1200

    What OS are you running?

Re: Which gfx card for server

Update: I've now got hold of a Intel Matrox-G200e gfx driver that sort of works. So that will tide me over till I get a better performing gfx card. But which one?

    Anyone?

Re: Which gfx card for server

Definitely a driver issue, I've run a 1680x1050 display from a MicroServer. The IGP should actually be faster than that card you have now. Performance shouldn't be an issue for 2d, and I can't see you wanting to play games on it? In answer to your question - any card that fits and doesn't need an auxiliary power connector should work e.g. 4550 or something. Cooling is something to bear in mind in such a compact case though.
