MSI marketing bumpf about the GTX680:

They says its 40% faster than a GTX580.
Like the comments !
"nice, 5-7% increase from default to overclock but they drawing the bar like it was 2 times faster. 2nd picture surely targeted for blind people.."
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.

Here is a picture of the control pane where you can manually change the Turbo Boost percentage:

Supposedly the difference between the GTX680 and HD7970 is similar to the difference between the GTX580 and the HD6970:

The TDP is meant to be between the HD6950 and HD6970. Power consumption and TDP of the GTX680 might end up being similar to an HD7950 3GB. Considering the HD7950 3GB has a more complex PCB and more VRAM,I wonder how close the TDP and power consumption of the GPUs(not the full cards) are though??

Looks like there's several frequencies going by the EVGA tool.
They have an orange bar showing current frequency, which idled around ~360mhz. A green bar going up to a 1 on a separate scale, and ~700mhz on the frequency scale. Then some marks for base clock at ~1000mhz and 1.3 on the second scale, and boost at ~1050mhz about 1.35 on second scale.
My question is, the second scale seems to be showing a base clock, given it is centred around the value 1, and ties in with the rumours of a 705mhz base clock. But then there's a second base clock mark at 1008mhz - so what's going on? Shader clocks set to 700 throughout, and variable other clocks?
gogogogogo.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
The only thing is that BF3 performance at 2560X1600 is the same as the HD7970 3GB but for most other games tested it is much faster especially at 1920X1080.

It seems GPGPU abilities have been severely curtailed on the GTX680 in favour of gaming performance.
This explains why it is so efficient.

A lot of people who were running BF3 on higher resolution panels and with multiple monitors complained that the HD7970 3GB was quite poor in those situations. Look at the 2560X1600 figures - both cards are the same.
It seems that unless a GTX680 4GB comes out,the performance has not gone forward.
