    Question Installing new 61.76 drivers over 53.04 safely!!

    Hi, im looking to get more out of my graphics card and now the new drivers for 98 have come out i want to try and install them without crashing my computer. I'm not a computer wizard so i'd be in a bit of trouble if my computer started crashing because of the new drivers. I tried to download diver cleaner but it wouldnt download properly from their site. Is their any other safe way of installing new drivers without conflicting them with the old ones like going into vga mode or safe mode things like that. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, John

    You should just be able to install them direct - after all, the 'old' drivers are also Nvidia drivers too. That's what I did when I went from my GForce4 to my 6800GT a couple of weeks ago - although I am on Windows XP Pro.

    Once thing I would suggest is upgrading to Win XP. Win98 is real old, and this morning's news from id - that Doom3 will NOT work on Windows 98 - kinda reflects what you're going to find more and more going forward. Besides, Win XP is a *much* better OS - far less of the 'crashing computer' that you seem to be in fear of.

    I wouldn't bother ...

    61.77 drivers have been released already so skip the 61.76 and install these instead

    Just run the installer?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
