Kepler i believe is 600 series, the titan is also Kepler and from what you stated before, so could the 780.

Here is a food for thought. Do you expect a single 780 to beat a single titan?
Do you expect one Titan to beat a pair of GTX780 or GTX770 cards?? It cannot beat a pair of GTX670 cards, last time I checked at 1920X1080 or 2560X1440,and moreover Nvidia SLI drivers tend to work well.

Moreover,Nvidia is releasing a second SKU based on Titan. What happens if the GTX780 is not a GK114 and is a GK110 based card??

On top of this the GK104 is a small GPU by Nvidia standards,so they have plenty of die space, and TDP they can play with to improve performance.

This is unlike with Fermi where the chips were not small.

Well they dont want to turn the next GPU into a portable heater do they? So they have some headroom but not much unless they dont mind keep us warm while were gaming in the winter

Titan SLI is clearly not the sensible option here, but if he really wants to spend the money then I can't see any reasonable alternatives.

A single Titan would be sensible? or still the SLI 660?

Well you can the same performance as Titan for less using a SLI setup. Given your budget at least SLI 670, but then this would be trickier to upgrade in future.

I think the big thing to decide is what you want on the monitor front. Do you want dual or triple monitors? Do you want 2560x1440 or 120hz.

    Re: GTX 690 vs Titan

Thanks for the links there will check them out, I would never go for triple, only dual. I have one single LCD Samsung SyncMaster P2770H 27inch monitor but would consider of getting something better for dual.

    Re: GTX 690 vs Titan

Here is the TR review comparing various setups:

    http://techreport.com/review/24381/n...tan-reviewed/7

They tested the games at 2560X1600.

The GTX690 is essentially two downclocked GTX680 cards on a stick. Two decent GTX670 cards would be as fast too.

Also, with two monitors,I am not sure whether it would really work out great??

You will have to have one as your main monitor, unless you have the image split down the centre, which would be annoying.

If you want to spend money, it might be worth looking at things like a gaming seat, or a better desk which may do more to help you gaming experience than ludicrous graphic power.

    Re: GTX 690 vs Titan

Personally, I would go for a Dell U2713 or a Dell U3011 (they're in the process of being replaced, I think, by the U2714 and the U3014).

For gaming, you'll only be able to use 1 or 3 monitors (a very few exceptions like Supreme Commander aside), so you might as well make the one in the middle the biggest.

I use 2 monitors, but not for gaming as such. The main screen runs games, and the second one is just for productivity - i.e. music alongside web browsing, or more typically, 2 PDFs, one web browser, and a word document.

    Re: GTX 690 vs Titan

    After reading this:
    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/N...tan_SLI/1.html

    I'd get a Titan.

So many games just have awful scaling for SLI/CF especially with 3 cards.
Leaving aside the really big money titles like BF3 multiple cards often end up slower than a single card.

    Re: GTX 690 vs Titan

Lets have a look at all the games in the TPU review.

    Alan Wake

    DX9.2012.

    AC3

    DX11.2012.

    Batman

    DX11.2011.

    BF3

    DX11.2011.

    BL2

    DX9.2012.

    COD:BO

    DX11.2012.

    Crysis

    DX9.2007.

Irreleveant as Crytek uses CE3,not CE2 now.

    Crysis2

    Diablo III

Really now?? That will run fine on even older cards, and if anything server latency is more an issue.

    DX9.2012.

One GTX680 will give you over 115FPS.

    FC3

    DX11.2012.

    F1 2012

    DX11.2012.

The game has negative scaling for almost all setups.

However, you are hitting just over 75FPS with one GTX680.

    Hitman: Absolution

    DX11.2012.

    Max Payne 3

    DX11.2012.

    Metro:2033

    DX11.2010.

    Sleeping Dogs

    DX11.2012.

    SC2

    DX9.2010.

Really now?? Another game that will run fine on older cards.

    Over 155FPS with a single GTX680.

    Skyrim

    DX9.2011.

    CPU limited.

Moreover, the engine is being ditched for Elder Scrolls:Online which is going to be DX11.

    WoW

Expansion used is not stated. DX11,but DX11 actually improves framerates in the game.

    Re: GTX 690 vs Titan

    Overall

A pair of GTX680 cards is still quicker. A GTX690 is quicker and I would expect a pair of GTX670 cards to be similar.

The worst thing is a single Titan is still more expensive than GTX670 SLI.

Of those 18 games tested a pair of GTX680 cards is already hitting around 100FPS or higher in 8 games and in another 2 games, the setup is CPU limited with a 4.3GHZ Cpre i7 3820 too.

    Edit!!

Here are the details of the second cheaper GK110 based SKU for gamers:

    http://translate.google.it/translate...itan-med-gk110

Its launch date seems late Q2 or early Q3 too. This could be another Titan SKU or the basis of the GTX780.

    Re: GTX 690 vs Titan

This seems as good a place to ask as any!

The GTX690 hasn't seen any customisation from the vendors (custom cooling housings/fans etc.) and I've read various conflicting rumours since the launch of the Titan if it will eventually have these or not.

Does anyone have any idea if we'll see a Gigabyte Windforce Titan in the future, for example?

Sorry for the tangent, and thanks
