It seems to me that companies could offer a part exchange deal on graphics cards. Let's say a card lasts two years, and then the new models are out. You hand your old one back, they recycle materials, and you pay less for the new model. I've just bought a GTX780. It does exactly what I want! I've noticed a strange syndrome; before buying a new card, everything(forums, reviews, future opinions, etc), seem to indicate one clear choice, after you've bought it , NEVER read about it anywhere!!!
It's also tied down with lots of conditions, one of them is that you have buy EVGAs extended warranty and then pay the difference between their list price of the old and new card, so the warranty makes up for the difference in value of your used card and the value of a new card, then you can only trade up within either 30, 60 or 90 (I forget which it is) days from the date of purchase.
I think it's 90 days.

Robert
And there are "special edition" card like the GTX Titan (Black Edition) which are excepted from the step up program.

Robert
Only thing I'd say is if you want to buy anything buy the best you can, for the money you can at that time! The improvements between series IMO aren't too vast and there is always a new version. You'll be content with your decision I'm sure!

Don't buy 290X, get a 290 - some (not many) 290s can be flashed to a 290X and the amount of extra outlay needed for an 'X' isn't really worth it for the 5-10% performance increase
But otherwise, no I wouldn't wait
@ herulach and Shivy011
The 290's have a good price when compared to the Gigabyte GTX 780 GHZ Edition, but they are not as good, I don't even think the 290X's are as good, and they are more expensive... also I'm not into multi-gpu...
Been checking some GTX 780 Ti prices, one of the cheapest I can found is the Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti Windforce OC for about 447£ and the one with the highest factory overclock is the Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti GHZ Edition that costs about 478£.
Don't know why but the Gigabyte's are cheaper than the others... for example the Asus GTX 780 Ti DC2OC costs 462£, not to mention the EVGA GTX 780 Ti Dual Classified w/ACX which is the most expensive costs 528£...
Which one do you guys recommend?

In terms of warranty EVGA is the very best you can get. The EVGA support is amazing!
The ASUS support is (here in Germany) pretty bad; it is possible that a RMA lasts about 6 weeks.
Why do you want to buy a factory overclocked graphics card? It is easy to overclock a GPU yourself and you'll be able to get way more performance out of it. Every 780 Ti runs at 1 GHz without any problems or further tuning. My 2 780 Tis even run over 1300 MHz without a problem (except my 1000W PSU is too weak ).
So I would recommend you to get a EVGA 780 Ti (with the ACX cooler, although the reference cooler performs pretty well too).

You're right but I figured since it doesn't cost that much more than the cheapest one I can get...
So you would recommend the EVGA GTX 780 Ti Superclocked w/ ACX Cooler which costs about 484£.
Why would I choose this one over the Gigabyte ones which are cheaper?
BTW at 1300 MHz doesn't it run hot and noisy?
So, I've read some reviews and apparently the ACX cooler is pretty good.
From the same reviewer, the temperatures of the GPU, VRM and memory under load are respectively:
EVGA GTX 780 Ti SC w/ ACX - 67 - 82 - 67
Gigabyte GTX 780 Ti WindForce OC - 75 - 87 - 71
MSI GTX 780 Ti Gaming TwinForz - 69 - 89 - 70
ASUS GTX 780 Ti DirectCU II OC - 75 - 98 - -
Palit GTX 780 Ti Jetstream - 71 - 76 - 71
Although it's more expensive, the EVGA GTX 780 Ti SC w/ ACX with it's excellent cooler and the good support would seem like the right choice.
Thanks Wa1lock
Any other suggestions?
Yeah I would recommend the Tu w ACX
Mine are watercooled thats why they are not getting hot or noisy.
Cheers,
Robert
Dont wait , unless you got a good bit of spare money!
Let's say I do have a good bit of money for a second, what are you suggesting?
@ Wa1lock
Why don't you put 6Mbps or 6M? 6K looks like your internet is made out of some super-ultra-high def.
